Torres is just a life saver! And Alonso!

Premier League Liverpool
comment on the article

Yet again it is the one and only Fernando Torres to save us from a shocking draw to Sunderland. This is why his is the best striker in the world.

But who was it that got the vital assist : Alonso.

So really this shows that Alonso can be so effective in games without us actually noticing it.So i'm probaly speaking for most Liverpool fans by saying,KEEP ALONSO,FORGET BARRY.

We had been on top and we derserved the win.

What are your thoughts?

Gerrard and Torres ARE the only two players that would get in the big three and should a club come along to buy them given your small crowds and poor finances they would leave the sinking ship.
---------------------------
As a few have pointed out to you Arsenal are interested in Alonso. I assume they are in your 'big three' as they finished third. So clearly he could into the 'big three'. That's more than Gerrard and Torres for a start. Masch could easily as could Agger and so on blah blah.

Chelsea were after Torres in the summer, didn't see him leaving a sinking ship. Unlike Barry, man overboard.

Any more idiotic comments to brighten my day with?

Sky Sports:

"When I was first talking with Xabi (about a transfer) we needed money. After these months it is not a question of money. We would have to have a massive offer because Alonso is a great player."
"But if we sell one or two players we have enough money to bring in one more good player."

To me this basically means Voronin & Pennant are out and Barry is in at a cheaper price now that he is cup-tied and that Alonso is staying to.

Hopefully this is true!

"Sunderland did not deserve to lose" (Jonathan Stevenson)

Yes they did, because they conceded and Liverpool didn't. A gutsy performance yes, but it doesn't change the fact that Liverpool scored eventually.

"(as Gerrard has wanted to numberous times)"

===============

'numberous'!

Way to go with making up new words there, Professor Stanley Unwin.

""Sunderland did not deserve to lose" (Jonathan Stevenson)"

No bias intended or otherwise, but Sunderland made a few chances, put pressure on us and didnt score. We did likewise more in the second half and Torres scored. I can think of other teams who didnt deserve something yet got it regularly, particularly from scoring quite late. LFC has had games where we have dominated yet got only the point.

Season after season after season, when United, Arsenal or Chelsea play badly and win, pundits across the land hail it as an example of a side worthy of winning the title, grinding out results when they need to. Liverpool didn't sparkle, and took their time to get going, but they got three points and didn't concede. Discussing whether the players are good enough or not to play for United and Chelsea is futile, because they play for Liverpool. You can't tell anything from the first day of the season, some teams underperform, and others play out of their skin. Let's leave it for a few months and then we can start discussing which teams have got the squad to go all they way shall we?

It is time that Rafa delivers the title. He has to start talking about wanting and needing to WIN and not been vague when addressing the media. The difference where he cannot stand alongside Wenger and Ferguson which motivates the team and the fans. C'mmon Rafa, you have to give back to the fans. They backed you in your darkest moments.

The sunderland game was a poor performance, but we were missing players and we still have not got up and running, we were slightly better than we were against standard. The plus point being that in previous seasons, those are the kind of games we would of lost, but we ground out the win, 3 points and i'm happy.

Rafa is becoming an enigma to me, i don't understand what the formation is he has in mind, we have no width.

The only thing i can think of if he is going to play 4-3-3, with gerrard and keane behind torres, which would make sense condsidering his long pursuit of barry. I think alonso is great, my only problem i have with him, is his mobility and how much ground he covers a game.

This is one thing that barry excels in, he cover about the same amount of ground as gerrard. and like gerrard he is not afraid to go wide on the wing and cross in a ball.

Kuyt i never wanna see play on the right again, how many time does rafa have to see him play there to understand he is not up to the job, and neither is pennant or voronin.

The downside is, we didn't look like scoring. For all the corners we won, none looked like coming to anything. I think Gerrard should be in the box for these corners rather than taking them. He's headed a few in his time and if we have to endure Alonso, he can probably take a corner better than he can a free kick.

Totally agree with you. Gerrard should be hovering around the edge of the box when corners are being taken. He is good with his head and even better with his feet should the ball come out to the edge of the penalty area ( FA cup final West hame ).
Will Liverpool win the title?
It boils down to one factor above all others.
Do the players believe they can win it?
If they do, Liverpool will be champians.
It's all about self belief, which then brings out ones confidence, which in turn brings out the better footballer. The winning footballer.
