Hey Dolcem. I admire your courage coming on to a BBC 606, and saying we have the best athletes in the US - even though that's not exactly correct. :D

We (US) have some pretty good athletes. How could we not with 300mil people?

Football doesn't always attract the best ones here. Also, the model we use for developing players - youth soccer, to high school, to university, to pro. - is flawed (Dolcem was right about that). However, that's changing, and some of our better young players are the fruit of those changes.

Another problem we have is the MLS doesn't work on a relegation system, and it seems like a lot of players don't look like they're fighting for their starting spots the way you see in European leagues.

Anyway, back on topic. Edu is a good midfielder with room to improve. He can play CB, which adds some flexibility to his play. He'll be a fixture on our national team going forward (maybe we'll actually get out of our group in 2010).

Best of luck, and I hope he does well for Rangers. I look forward to watching some of the matches this season.

Just remember that you didn't heard of Cuellar, he turned out as a fine business.

I am hoping Edu do the same thing, but only stay longer!

Edu will take sometime to settle in, i have wacthed him play a few games, but he is a strong and solid player and we have him for 5 years to groom him and he will learn alot from playing in Scotland, i like the fact that RAngers have got some very good young players in the team now, and as we all know mixed with the older players it is all good, I see taht Webster is gone on loan and that is also a good move, with any luck he will come back stronger and a better player having to get to play every week,Cousin needs to go, i like Darch but i really cant see how he is going to fit in, but we have 3 or 4 players out on long term injuries,so i can see us not doing much more business until Janurary, but all the same I am well pleased that we are going forward and we must win the SPL this year, If we don't it will be far worse than losing out on uefa football this year, as we all know in football there are times you need to sell one player to bring in 2 or 3 players it is and was good business for Rangers in the sale of Hutton and Carlos, not that I am happy to see them go, I feel and i have said this many a time, that Rangers waited a wee bit to long to spend, but we are out of uefa time to get over it and win the spl.

dolcem, great comment, though it was like reading a novel. Our youth system sucks and that summarizes our national team. You are completely right, we don't emphasize creativity, all the sports us Yanks play, involves the coach telling us what to do play by play. We really don't understand football, and probably never will. I completely agree that the first touch of American players are aweful. To me, that is our worst area in football. We'll never be good until we emphasize creativity, instead of play by play orders.

we need to with the SPL. thats our bread and butter. Celtic have had it easy the last 3 years, so im glad that Walter is spending some cash in the midfield department. Mendes looks good and Edu will bring in some steel to protect the back 4. Smith now has alot of different options in attach and midfield. Need Stevie Smith back at left back. Id put Papac with Bougherra in the centre and Whittaker at right back.

As a Gers fan and a Toronto FC season ticket holder this is good and bad news. Mo Edu is green as grass but has a great deal of upside that I think will become visible in a couple of years. He was well loved in Toronto and will be sadly missed as we only saw flashes of his future brilliance.

Good news bad news for me. As a supporter of the US national team I am happy to see him move to a big club in a better league and progress in his career. As a Celtic supporter I am not happy to see a player of his ability and potential end up at Rangers.

He is a quality player and after he has some time to settle in Rangers fans will realize they got a steal with him. He is composed on the ball can control play in the midfield and his defensive skills are quality.

In the buildup to the Olympics as several US central defenders got hurt (Jonathan Spector and Nathan Sturgis) the US coaching team decided to play Edu there out of his natural position. Except for one or two hiccups in the preliminary game, he played well there showing his versatility.

Someone mentioned Evander Sno in a previous post. I honestly would rate Edu higher than him in that he seems more in control when making challenges in the midfield. His passing and control on the ball are very good.

Could Be A Good Player. My Pal Watches A Lot Of MLS And He Says He's Quality,And Hes A Tim. But I Dont Think We REALLY Need A Defensive Midfielder Though. We Need Pace.

But Aaron And Mendes,Thats Exactly What We're After.Genuine Class....Maybe Now People Will Start Gettin Off Walter's Back....Ive Said It All Season....Theres No One Better For Rangers Than Walter And Ally.
