Kent - Essex

comment on the article

Morning all,

I'll shortly be bringing you the live text for the Friends Provident Trophy final between Kent and Essex at Lord's.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cri...

These two sides must know each other inside-out by now after meeting three times in the Twenty20 Cup this season, as well as twice in the group stages of this competition.

Kent triumphed when they last met, on Twenty20 finals day - but with both sides nursing injury doubts, who will prevail?

Do get involved and join the debate.

Good Final

Dissappointed Kent lost but well played Essex.

Danish Kaneria was brilliant with the ball.
If only he cud perform like that for Pakistan.

FP Trophy shows the World why it is the Best Domestic Cricket Cup in the World.

Also lots of internationals in both teams which is good for the game tho i prefer the old 2 foreign player rule which was better.

Well done the eagles, very pleased for Pettini who has come in for a lot of unfair criticism in the last couple of years. A fine all round team performance, our bowlers are just exceptional in limited overs. Flower showed a lot of people how to bat in the one day format, we need someone of similar class in the England team. Ryan rhode his luck, but once again came up with the goods. What a great day, the British Olympic team delivered a golden saturday, Ipswich won, Norwich got a lucky draw, life cannot get much better.biggrin

Re : Censura

What nonsense you Jibber Jabber crazy fool.

Essex:

Cook
Gallian
Bopara
Pettini
Foster
Napier
Wright
Masters

All english qualified. Only four players in Essex squad were born overseas, one of them is English qulaified through residency.

Can I suggest a trip to Northampton if you want to see a team full of Saffers and Ausies ??

Censura,

English qualified players for Kent:
Key,
Denly,
Stevens,
Jones,
Treadwell

Mahmood is now English qualified, Maclaren is looking to qualify.

As another poster said have a look at Northants and Leics to see teams stuffed to the brim with 'foreign' players.

Censura always look on the bright side. Your cup certainly appears to be half empty rather than half full. But I do agree with you to a large extent, far too many overseas players in our cricket. Happy for the odd one or two, real pros like Kaneria (who has been outstanding for several seasons at Essex). Having exceptional talent like the Richards and Garners can only help the younger players learn. But having lots of average, past it, foreigners, does harm the game.
