Scotland - England

comment on the article

Scotland host England at The Grange in the first-ever Auld Enemy cricket clash. Over the years, there have been many famous battles between the home nations on the football and rugby fields but never before have they been pitted against each other with bat and ball.

Can Ryan Watson's men cause the mother of all upsets? Or will Kevin Pietersen's new-look side maintain their unblemished start under the new skipper?

There will be commentary from Edinburgh from BBC Radio Five Live Sports Extra and on BBC Radio Scotland, as well as on the BBC Sport website.

But who do you think will come out on top? Get involved with the debate.

It's such a 'nothing' match that it's not even on TV.

i think that scotland could have had a sniff if flintoff didnt play but now i recon scotland loose by 30 runs or 4 wickets but i hope it doesn't put them off cricket as they have the potential to be a good one day side

I am an avid cricket fan and a crowd of us go down to watch England each year in a one day international. This year it is the one dayer @ Headingley against SA. The tickets cost £35,
the last three or four years we have went to the Riverside where it cost between £30 - £37.50 to watch England v the visiting teams including England v Australia in 2005. This is for a seat in the main stand not temporary.

For the last three years I have had a season ticket for the saltires, and have been to all the one-dayers which were included in the package. You could also buy an individual ticket for £25 for each one dayer including games v Australia / India & Pakistan.

As much as it pains me, I just can't afford or indeed if I could, justify paying £48 to go to the England game on Monday and the fact that it still isn't even close to being sold out tells me that Cricket Scotland have made a serious mistake with their pricing policy here. I will be writing a letter to them to this effect, however, I'm absolutely gutted to be missing the game on Monday.

Cricket Scotland - give yourselves a shake - £48 to sit in a temporary stand is an utter disgrace, increasing the price to £30 would have been acceptable, however, doubling the price is totally out of order.

Perhaps the fact the game will not sell out will serve as a lesson for future games!!!!

Well if it is all about money - then yes they can and will compete. Personally i would like to see a UK cricket team to take on the world...at the 2012 Olypics and if this type of fixture leads to that situation all the better.
It is in fact a terrible disappointment that Team GB wont have a UK soccer team in 2012 - with Sir Alex in charge. Can cricket maybe buck this awful trend of sectarianism?
I hope the better team wins today!!

I decided last minute to go today but did not renew my Scottish cricket season ticket due to the England ticket being included in the price, so Scottish Cricket has lost money from me this summer because of their pricing policies (the shambles that was the India game at Titwood last year and the attitude of the Rock Steady supervisor at the Grange in previous years were other reasons for non-renewal.)

Did not expect anything better from BBC Scotland admittedly, but still sums up what a disaster they are that game not on live television today.

Thik new captain will boost England today and fear a drubbing but hope for good game.

Oh and BTW £48 is far too much to pay in the belting rain! Ticket prices should be more realistic.
Test Match prices are also way too high for Mr Average!

48 quid for me and 24 for each of the kids to watch Scotland get walloped in the rain by a south african, cricket scotland need to wake up as soon they could be playing odi's in empty grounds regardless of weather and who they are playing.

I hope whatever rivalry there may be is truly a hard fought friendly rivalry - not a farcical football-style seething hatred which is quite disgusting to see.

English and Scottish people are not yet beyond wanting to win fiercely, putting it all on the line, but still be man enough to shake hands with no hard feelings win, lose or draw.
