England women continue winning run

comment on the article

England's women have made it four wins out of four in their home one-day series against South Africa.

They now have the chance to complete a clean sweep at Chesterfield on Monday, before the two sides switch to the Twenty20 format.

A tougher test lies ahead against India but following on from successful tours to Australia and New Zealand, the England team seems to be going from strength to strength.

Charlotte Edwards's side have the World Cup and ICC World Twenty20 to look forward to next year.

Hswve you been to any of their recent games? If so, tell us what you think of their recent performances.

Went to the Lord's game, and England were absolutely brutal ... the other games haven't seemed as one-sided, although the results were never in doubt ...

At Lord's, they looked a totally different class, to use a football analogy, it looked like the Champions League champion playing a Sunday League side - the fielding was absolutely flawless, epitomised by Catherine Brunt's outstanding bullet throw to effect a run out, just after she'd bowled her 10 overs on the trot and taken 5/25 - no cheap wickets either, 4 were LBW due to late movement and sheer pace, and the other flattened the stumps ... Isha Guha looked handy as well, and Holly Colvin looked a huge prospect, turning the ball and bowling with beautiful flight ...

The batting was outstanding, 310 for 4 in 50 overs, and apparently the opening partnership is an English record for the highest partnership for ANY wicket, including the mens game - the only slightly sad aspect was Caroline Atkins falling 11 runs short of getting her own giant poster underneath the Compton stand for the highest score for England in an ODI ...

The South African players looked, to be blunt, poorly drilled in the field - misfields, comical missed run-outs, dropped catches and very weak arms ... they fought hard and never gave up, but were far and away second best ...

Good to see the Saffa girls putting up more of a fight in the later games, but well played England - I can't see anyone (including the Aussies) getting close to them ...

Job well done. The English ladies are on our list of pay backs as well, after they land slided our ladies last year in a home series.

RS, seriously - they were incredible ... I know you can 'only beat what's in front of you', but they looked so polished and well drilled ... certainly a huge step up from old school girls cricket!

Waikaot,

Oh I believe you mate..they are a good wholesome pack of good cricketing maties. Wonder what are they doing differently that has been working for them so well over the years, as opposed to England's men's eleven who appears to have been on a roller coaster.

How was the attendance at Lords, are fans still showing up to support the all girls eleven?

RS, sadly the crowd was almost non existent ... although there was a test on at the Oval, the forecast was rubbish and the start slightly delayed, plus there was some bloody football on somewhere as well I think, and the Olympics!

It was a very poor turnout, but those who did turn out had a great time and made plenty of noise, and hung around for a long time after the game because the players all came out and sort of milled around chatting ... it was a great day!

I've been following the England women's team for a couple of years now and am really impressed by the results they've been getting. Am now looking forward to my first live game at the T20 at Northampton next week. However, am I the only one who's distinctly unimpressed by the lack of TV coverage?

They usually get a few games on TV each summer, so I don't know why there hasn't been this year.
