Scoring debacleOlympics by BigBobBlack (U8801578) 14 August 2008 Is it just me? Or is the scoring on the Olympic boxing done by someone not actually watching the fights? Latest 10 commentsRead members' comments or add your own

Gentleman01 (U12749915) posted Aug 14, 2008 The main issue I have with the scoring is how difficult it is to land a scoring boddy shot, I've also seen many hooks failing to register. The judges want the fighter to exchange straight punches to the face and that is it. if you land a flush hook your less likely to score with it than with a half decent straight right. I also agree that our boxers have been well beat... unfortunately

pecmeister general (U2806392) posted Aug 14, 2008 Agree with you to an extent Chris, but the Murray bout in particular, was farcical that he should go in 4-0 down after the first round. That basically meant he had to chase the fight and wholly different tactic had to be employed. The Saunders fights i feel were fair results, with either poor gameplan instruction or a failure to execute a gameplan. Either way i am hugely dissapointed as i beleive they should have been in the medals

Jones1979 (U11643055) posted Aug 14, 2008 It'd make a lot more sense for each scoring shot to be recorded by each individual judge and then an average of the three totals taken at the end - too many scoring shots are missed under the current system. As with most of the above points, I still think the British lads were fairly beaten either way.

MIXtheZyder (U11244581) posted Aug 14, 2008 There's only one way around it. A form of London prize ring rule's.10 point's for a knock down, & @ that point the round ends. If there's no knock down after 10 minutes, then it's the 1st knock down that wins. No more spec saver sponcered judge's required!!.......

supergunner07 (U8934530) posted Aug 14, 2008 Its because all the judges have to press their keypad within a second of each other for the point to register and they dont even score body shots.

272boxingnetwork (U13037304) posted Aug 17, 2008 lots of things are wrong with the scoring in the olympics take the gymnastics louis had the same score as the other guy but got a bronze instead of silver, i would of thought the most obvious solution would be extra time so to speak let em do it again basically. Or even share the silver which is even more exciting in a way because a new bronze medalist is introduced. The boxing is so open to interpretation i think two minute rounds favour perhaps the weaker boxers who can do that for two minutes and steal a win. Comment on this article
