cyril_knowles_it (U9386689) posted Aug 12, 2008 I thought the cuellar deal is done and dusted? I agree with your point about him. A huge majority of Rangers fans would not want him to go at all but apparently his buy out clause has been triggered, that is what I have heard anyway.

wongkarwai (U2523406) posted Aug 12, 2008 He's a decent keeper, plenty of experience and will be a good understudy to Gomes, giving that young Italian keeper we signed earlier in the summer - technically making Cesar our third goalkeeping signing - a couple of seasons to develop before taking over the sub keeper role.

Extranjeros (U9305343) posted Aug 12, 2008 Decent goalkeeper, but what I don´t understand is how he´s going to get better at the age of 36? Surely Spurs bought him for his experience and will use him as a back-up for Gomes, not an understudy, or am I missing something?

JackMcMac (U2241157) posted Aug 12, 2008 Cesar Sanchez, you couldn't get a better back-up. Most starting goalies need a few games to get their form in check, but good back-up keepers have to keep their match fitness up without playing games while keeping pressure on the first choice in training. Cesar can do this easily as he has stood in the wings of keepers like Casillas (at Madrid) and Reina (in the national side). He has experience, he'll provide Gomes good competition, and provide Ramos a good option if something happens to Gomes. Sometimes transfers aren't about breaking the transfer fee record and making the headlines, it's deals like this that add that needed substance to a squad. Spurs look to be building a decent side under Ramos.
