Olympics - Day Two

comment on the article

Good evening, good morning or good afternoon - wherever you are, welcome to the second day's coverage of the Beijing Games.

The China v USA battle is already up and running with the host nation having claimed two golds on the first day while their 'friends' across the waters have won one.

So what's in store today?

There are 14 medals to be decided, with Michael Phelps going for the first of a possible eight golds in the 400m individual medley at 0300 BST.

The British women's archery team are in with a shout of a medal, while Nicole Cooke has a chance of glory in the women's road race at 0700 BST.

Meanwhile, the Murray brothers, Andy and Jamie, take on Daniel Nestor and Frederic Niemeyer in their doubles clash at about 1130 BST.

It's hotting up out in Olympic world - and I'm just not talking about the temperature.

The coverage from the BBC is so bad - so many mistakes. With athletes showing what professionalism really means its a shame the coverage is way below world class and not worthy to be in Beijing.

I have just watched and listened to a 'commentator' who was initially reporting about the teenage diving contestant. When aske to comment about Nicole Cooke he said something like " she didn't expect to win...blah" Doesn't he realize that nicole has been one of the top women cyclist in the world for at leat the last 5 years and that it was a surprise that she didn't get a gold medal at the last Olympics!! yikes

She has been a world champion 3 times, a European champion, won the Womens tour de France and many other 'Gold' performances. You choice of commentators is pretty poor I would say!
