Ambrose suffers from the perception, right or wrong, that he is in the team because of his connection with Moores. Consequently, like Geraint Jones before him, there is the feeling he didn't quite earn his place.
Calling him Timmy certainly doesn't help either!
Short of doing the decent thing and finally giving Chris Read the prolonged run in the team he deserves I would like to see Foster or Davies in the team. Anything is better than the dreaded Prior with his hard hands and childish sledging!

I think Tim Ambrose should have been gone for this test with a view to setting in a new keeper for the tour to India. Prior or Foster would be best.Chris Read is has had his chances, although he probably is the best gloveman,his batting lets him down and a solid batsman is what england need at the minute.

Wicketkeepers should be selected as keepers alone, not as auxiliary batsmen. The balance of the side is 6/4 or 5/5, plus WK. Get the best keeper, and work on his batting if necessary. A batsman only gets dropped for one reason, likewise a bowler. I haven't watched all the keeping candidates (unlike, obviously, everyone else on this board)but I believe taking on Prior or Mustard for their batting is not right.If the specialist skills of WK are not really that important, why not go for straight batter?

Right, drop ambrose, train cook up as a full time keeper, because the part time keepign eh did was bloody amazing. Then make cook a no.3 batsmen strauss and bell openeing. that will solve the wicket keeper problem and the opening pair being too similar. then bring simon jones back into the team

so not foster then, who's averaged low 30's the past few years in division 2.

Tim Ambrose would be struggling in his county side, never mind the England side. He is not fit to clean Chris Reeds boots. Mr Moores who has no England/International experience, appears to be completely ignoring form/performance, only picks his favourite yes men, England deserve & should get better.
