Extremely naive imo. The statement is in itself political.

You think the organising powers (i.e. politicians) don't milk these huge events for every drop of political advantage they can get? And the rest of us should just keep Schtuck?

Politics, religion, sport, economics, education... are all co-dependent & exist side by side whether we like it or not. The best of each should be promoted and the worst criticised, but as far as possible without detriment to the others.

So disappointing that the BBC is not showing any handball until the semi-finals and then only one game on Freeview's BBCi.

How are the 'minority' Olympic sports (in the UK at least) supposed to grow their support base ahead of the 2012 Games with no support from our national broadcaster.

Anyway, the BBC and you guys missed out on a couple of great games today, first surprise of the tournament with Korea drawing with Russia and the hosts (out of nowhere) gave Norway a bit of a shock, in the first half at least.

Men's sides play tomorrow.

I willnever undestand why people cannot seperate their relgious views and politics from sport. Or why they have to use sporting events to make their point, (as if theres is the only point).
whats wrong with a sporting event just for sport so that people with different views can meet peacefully without fear and celebrate.
Not everyone belives in god or politicians.

Sarah - you're really overplaying Hannah Mileys chances far too much. The time she got to be 4th in the ranking was a bit of a one-off. Certainly the betting exchanges think so - she's a 100-1 shot!

Human rights?Military? from these words ,I am pretty sure that You haven't been to China.I tink it's not wise for you to judge a country that you do not really know.i am Junior students of china,and my major is political.
no doubt that china do have a long way to go in many fields,but,china is absolutely better than what you thought.we know the different between Animal and human is Mind,so ,please before developing your imagination of china,you should thinking ;"Do i really know china ?'
by the way ,I want to ask ;" Does the so called Human rights should be based on the truth?'

Oh!! "undersealevel" you are so, so right. People are such morons at times but, there have been some good level headed posts on here. Renews yer faith in human nature As far as putting blame on other countries for their wrong doings, let us carefully put our hand in front of our mouth first please,I say this in answer to your plea "geniusberry" You have big big tasks in front of you China and I wish you success on all fronts. I love my country (England) and am well aware our past is hardly pristine but I will defend us against all, if necessary.

While I think you are wrong in this particular debate you've been having, I also think you make a very good point here. It is true that the British media we've got here are not impartial and engage in social engineering. I've witnessed many subjects like that where, for instance, the BBC takes a particular stance on the matter.

Sadly the bottom line is that there is no media out there which is completely even handed. If there is no taint from the centralized control, there is always a taint of those reporting on the subject and nobody will manage to get that out of our system. Quite simply, it is the human nature at work, professional or no.

By the same token, China also applies her very own set of social engineering and that colours the way you perceive world events. I would like to think, and would hope, that our version of social engineering is less draconian than China's. And I think it's fair to argue that it is as we are democratic and if we put our mind to it we can find out about various different perspectives from all around the world (whether each and every one of us do that is another matter). If only China would let all chinese citizens to do the same.
