Diving - Beijing 2008

comment on the article

Diving is just one of 28 sports being fiercely contested at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

This is where you can talk about all things diving in the build-up to and during this summer's Games of the XXIX Olympiad.

Whether you want to tip someone for one of those precious gold medals, talk about the quality of competition, or debate its merits as an Olympic sport - this is your forum.

Over 10,500 athletes are expected to compete in 302 events across all sports - here is where you can get involved.

I love to watch the diving. OK, it might look like just jumping off a board but you need to be really fit and athletic to be able to dive well and make it look so easy. The pairs event is wonderful to watch.

I remember that poor bloke who whacked his head on the way down several years ago (in the springboard event, I think it was) - just goes to show how dangerous it can be!

Last Olympics I was chuffed to bits when Leon Taylor and Pete Waterfield won silver in the pairs and I was really sad to hear of Leon's retirement this year.

I will be watching out for Tom Daley who's competing in Beijing. A lovely down-to-earth lad who's working really hard and who's got a lot of support from his family as well as Leon. Tom's got a chance of a medal this year and he's got a fantastic chance of a medal in 2012 in front of a home crowd. Come on Tom!! smiley

Well done Stacie, a true bit of fighting spirit battling through to the semi. Alarm set for 3am!! Will be cheering you both on from the sofa!
Had a young (10 year old) visitor glued to the tele through the prelims, I am sure you are all inspiring many back home. There is such a buzz around all the team, it must be wonderful to feel part of it and you are both contributing your share.
