In my opinion this person is a disgrace and should not be granted the honour of being called a coach, for what he did was to annihilate any possibility of our athlete performing to her potential. I wonder if the same person would suggest that Paula Radcliffe do something similar the day before her attempt at the marathon. It is no wonder that UK athletes perform below expectations with mentors such as this idiot. Get rid of him now and get someone with a bit of common sense!!!

AndrewTonkin (U13049809) posted Aug 15, 2008 As an athlete of twenty four years standing, I can only agree with the comments regarding Dave Collins. UKA seems to be being run by people who evidently have never run competitively. I wonder whether Mr Collins had another runner waiting in the wings with the qualifying time ready to stand in? What could possibly be gained by demanding Kate should run a time trial at such a late stage? Even if she'd been forced to drop out during the race through injury, which I'm glad to say she didn't, she'd still have the Olympic experience to take on to future events. Who's interests do UKA think they are acting in?
