Champions League and ECB

Twenty20 England

Why did ECB agree to Middlesex's participation? I know its a chance for players to earn some money, but cant the ECB also stand united and argue that since Kent was not invited, no county would take part? Now the Kent players are unfairly left out on the flimsy grounds of having ICL Players. I would have thought the ECB would have the guts to tell the BCCI that they either invite Kent also or no county would participate? In any case they are hosting their own Champions League also.

Or were they also deluded by Modi's rupees?

hmm, according to the article on the bbc it seems that the team that have replaced kent (who let us not forget were not invited as they had 2 ICL players in their ranks) are Sialkot, the Pakistan Twenty20 champions. One thing strikes me about this, and that is the fact that this team, Sialkot, have TWO ICL PLAYERS AS WELL!!! As far as I know this was reported 2 weeks ago by the Times as well. So do this mean that the BCCI have decided that as they like Pakistan it is ok for their teams to have "associations/links" to ICL players but not English counties? Ridiculous

yeah just realised those players were banned from playing any cricket in pakistan by the PCB. whereas in the england, kemo and mahmood, both the icl players are still allowed to play.

I think this is all just utterly farcical. We have tournaments left right and centre, an unofficial global police of the game turning blind eyes to indiscretions that have already been punished with others. Unsustainable amounts of money changing long held player priorities

All because we all decided to have a bit of fun for a couple of weeks in the summer

Bobo_Sheikh - "yeah, imran nazir and who?"

"Kent, the Twenty20 Cup runners-up, were barred for employing two ICL players and Sialkot Stallions from Pakistan were invited instead. But it has emerged that Sialkot featured two ICL players – Rana Naved and Imran Nazir – when they won Pakistan's domestic Twenty20 tournament last year."

Test matches moved, second rate touring teams, yet another nail in the cricket coffin.

Money is now the prime goal of the sport.

This is not an official tournemount, it is not run by the ICC. UEFA run the football Champions league and UEFA Cup, 6 nation and tri-nations are officially sanctioned by IRB as international rugby tournemounts.

The Indian Champions league is a subsidary of the IPL and the BCCI. BCCI is getting 50% of the money, Cricket Aus/SA are being 10% of the money, a limited amount to England and Pakistan teams and the rest to IPL (Champs league organisers) I.E. BCCI!

Also where are teams from NZ, West Indies, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka? It's a joke and I really hope Middlesex win the Stanford and Champs league!

I am very excited about this development. Sure there are some odd exclusions (teams and country representation) but it will get re-balanced in a year or two and be far more inclusive. Cricket is entering the 21st century in a far healthier position than before and we should rejoice at that.

ECB is brown nosing. Why can't they stand up for Kent and say they are not going to take part.
Why there are no teams from Sri Lanka and West Indies?
