Champions League and ECBTwenty20 England by CROUCHING-TIGER (U1918533) 06 August 2008 Why did ECB agree to Middlesex's participation? I know its a chance for players to earn some money, but cant the ECB also stand united and argue that since Kent was not invited, no county would take part? Now the Kent players are unfairly left out on the flimsy grounds of having ICL Players. I would have thought the ECB would have the guts to tell the BCCI that they either invite Kent also or no county would participate? In any case they are hosting their own Champions League also. ScottyMuser (U1744322) posted Aug 15, 2008 hmm, according to the article on the bbc it seems that the team that have replaced kent (who let us not forget were not invited as they had 2 ICL players in their ranks) are Sialkot, the Pakistan Twenty20 champions. One thing strikes me about this, and that is the fact that this team, Sialkot, have TWO ICL PLAYERS AS WELL!!! As far as I know this was reported 2 weeks ago by the Times as well. So do this mean that the BCCI have decided that as they like Pakistan it is ok for their teams to have "associations/links" to ICL players but not English counties? Ridiculous

Kapnag (U11006724) posted Sep 9, 2008 I think this is all just utterly farcical. We have tournaments left right and centre, an unofficial global police of the game turning blind eyes to indiscretions that have already been punished with others. Unsustainable amounts of money changing long held player priorities

michaelgale (U12780212) posted Sep 11, 2008 I am very excited about this development. Sure there are some odd exclusions (teams and country representation) but it will get re-balanced in a year or two and be far more inclusive. Cricket is entering the 21st century in a far healthier position than before and we should rejoice at that.
