Champion Trophy

One-day internationals Pakistan

Champion Trophy is likely to take place in Pakistan. ECB and CA will try their best to transfer Champion Trophy out of Pakistan to somewhere, as England clearly sound favorite to host Champion Trophy. No matter what, but Champion Trophy will remain in Pakistan as ICC has already made decision. Beside, teams like England and Australia should tour to promote Pakistan cricket. They are bound to tour in WC that will be hosting by Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka.

Champion Trophy is indeed mini-World Cup and more money are involved.
let's get back to the topic of Champion Trophy that has two groups.

Group A

Australia
India
Pakistan
West Indies

Group B
England
New Zealand
Sri Lanka
South Africa

Both Groups are exciting as hell, but most focused will be on Group A for many reasons. Too many hatred going on between Pakistan vs Australia. Keen to watch Pakistan crowds reaction when Australia set on ground to play against Pakistan. Then, continue to India vs Australia as both teams are one of the best, if not, at least that would be good match to watch. Looking forward to see Group B as well.

Which two teams will advance in Semi Final from Group A. I don't see a chance of Pakistan reaching to Semi Final. That leaves it to Australia and India. West Indies is good decent, but not the best as comparable to India.

Which two teams will advance in Semi Final from Group B. I see Sri Lanka as favorite, but was favorite in last Champion Trophy too. I am more focused on Sri Lanka vs South Africa as that match always produce thriller. England cricket is in turmoil or not due to Collingwood stepping down as captain and more to follow. New Zealand is very decent side and hope to see good cricket. In fact, high hope on New Zealand to reach semi final.

Then, Talk about Semi Final and Final.
Which team can reach the final and one thing for sure, it's Australia definitely in Final. The main question remains that who can beat Australia or any team can beat Australia at the moment knowing that Australia side is getting weaker one by one, but still one of top team in ICC ranking.

Let's hear an opinion from you guys.

You must be stupid to think that the current Pak team can win any game. I love Pak n love the game of cricket but taking Karman Akmal, Shahid Afridi is a stupid mistake they keep repeating. No dencent opening pair No decent regular spinner Useless captain also Iftikhar Anjum or Abdur Rouf has done nothing impressive in the past.

So why do we still think or expect Pak to win???

I think, pakistan will win the champions trophy but they have to prove they will bowl without using steroid and damage the opponents by fearless batting. Also i want 2 say why malik always looking nervous or fearful?

I agree with some of what has been said till now, however, i think you guys are being a bit to negative. The last couple of years have been disastorous for the reputation of PCB and Pakistan Cricket, but i think some good has come out of all this. Misbah and Nasir Jamshed are really good finds for Pakistan. Kamaran Akmal is the worst keeper i have seen in ages. I just cannot belive we have stuck with him for soooo long, he is an absolute rubbish wicket keeper and his bating was never even close to consistant.

Afridi on the other hand is a really good one day bowler. I do not want to comment on his batting as the words ill use will ban me from 606 for ever smiley. But i think Afridi should stay.

Razzaq shold never have been dropped in the first place. He is just a magnificent all rounder. If we can put up with years of underperformance from Afridi, Razzaq should even be a concern.

And i still back Pakistan to atleast reach the Semis. They are a good lot who just need a kick up the back side. And Misbah should be Captain!!!

CricketSaint. Don't worry about your comment regarding to Afridi. I too, am neutral and beside, i hate Afridi the most. Afridi should have been kicked out of team by now. Ever since, we have Saeed Ajmal who is like another Saqlain. I don't see why not PCB drop Afridi now. He is useless with batting, but hardly consistent with his bowling even though he is good bowler. Beside, he is badluck to Pakistan no matter what. He should be kicked out. Fair enough

Im surprised still many cricket fans like Afridi even I dont even remember him scoring a 50 or 100 for years and than our keeper Kamran Akmal!!!! No idea what skills does he have which keeps him in the team. Iftikhar Anjum and Abdur Rouf what difference are they going to make.

Current Pak team can only win if one player out of 11 play an extra ordinary innings or bowling there is no combined team effort as half of the player are their just to fill the space.

I wonder what criteria or skills the Pakistani selectors look at when selecting players perhaps the player has to be related to some big dragon or politician etc...

In Pakistan, reputation play big part especially celebrity like Afridi, Akhtar and you name it.

No one can dare to criticize Tendulkar in India. It's just like that in Pakistan except the fact that we have too many blind fans of Blind hitter, a Shahid Khan Afridi.

PCB has no courage whatsoever, in order to drop Afridi from the squad. Dropping him from the squad might expect worse outcome from our Pakistani supporters in Pakistan for wrong reasons. Dropping Yousuf, Younis or Misbah will not make different to our blind supporters, but dropping Afridi will, and no matter even if he continues to perform miserable. Sadly, this is not helping Pakistan cricket.

Look at previous incidents, regarding of how majority of supporters chose to support Akhtar over DNA when he was found guilty of taking drug, not following probation (why sign the probation agreement if not willing to shut up or you know ). Our supporters at the moment, are supporting wrong reasons this time. Whatever PCB did, just to promote Pakistan Cricket in honesty, spirit, better image of Pakistan and go on. If our supporters are supporting wrong reasons, then i can't simply blame PCB. PCB did ban them, but in return, was pressurized by media and public of Pakistan to overturn the decision.

If I was a chairman, then i would have banned Akhtar, Asif and would never let media and public pressurized me to change my original decision and as the matter of fact, i will choose the policy that no reputation is above Pakistan Cricket. It's like Do Perform or Get Fired !

I understand everyone's point about Afridi, he is failing completely with the bat and is not bowling as well as was before. The problem is he is not scared about his selection. He thinks his place is cemented in the side and can do whatever he wants. What the selectors have to do is to drop him completely and let him rot on the sidelines, thats wht india did with sehwag and he is now india's best batsman in the recent test series against SL. About Kamran Akmal, I know he makes mistakes and he is not a proven batsmen such as Gilchrist or Sangakara. But does anyone have a replacement in mind. Pakistan recently used Sarfraz and he was abysmal. He made more mistakes than kamran and couldn't bat for nuts. I would be more confident with kamran at the crease needing 15 off the last over than sarfraz. If we have a gilchrist somewhere than play him, but for now kamran will have to do. I agree Iftikar is not at his best but if you have been watching some of the recent matches you will see he delivered when others failed. and that included Umar Gul. I completely disagree about Abdur Rauf. He just has not been given his chance. In his comeback match he picked up three wickets and was pretty economical. The opening batsmen Salman Butt and Nasir Jamshed are promising there are no doubts about that. Let them build their partnerships and get to know eachother, even if it means losing a whole series, just stick with them or their problems with the openers will continue. What the PCB did with the likes of Rashid Latif, Saeed Anwar and now Abdur Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Shahid Nazir and Yasir Arafat is disgraceful if anyone saw some of those guys in action at the ICL, the side would own the current Pakistan side any day. My Pakistan team would be:
1. Salman Butt
2. Nasir Jamshed
3. Younis Khan
4. Mohammad Yousuf
5. Misbah-ul-Haq (captain)
6. Shoaib Malik (Abdur Razzaq if possible)
7. Yasir Arafat
8. Kamran Akmal
9. Abdur Rauf
10. Shoaib Akhtar (we have no choice guys!!)
11. Saeed Ajmal (if a good pace track ten Umar Gul)

this side would probably contest not only for Champions Trophy but for future series to come.

sry forgot about Sohail Tanvir, instead of Umar Gul we could use him instead (the selection should train him as a batsmen as well so we can have another decent allrounder.
