BoxingNo1Ciaran (U12014816) posted Aug 3, 2008 as i have said all along and in agreement with saintbillz, when the hell did malignaggi become this major force in world boxing and after such poor showing in his most recent bouts.it just shows to me IMO that the LW division is getting weaker and all of the best light-welters have moved up to welter even if they are not big enough, classic examples, zab judah this morning and twice hatton who got taken to school by PBF and hsd his pocket money taken from him even though PBF started his career much lighter than ricky.luis callazo also IMO should have got a close desision on ricky.i have not got much interest in the LW boys as the welters are getting better and better all the time.stick where you are ricky and fight the soft touches to see out your career.after all that i believe hatton -paulie will go the distance as malignaggi proved how durable he can be when he fought cotto

wilsybill (U10462529) posted Aug 4, 2008 I think it all rests on Malignaggi. If he tries to fight toe to toe with Hatton - he'll lose. If he is clever and moves like we know he can - he could out box Hatton.

Levelvibes (U9274193) posted Aug 4, 2008 Ricky Hatton may not be the same fighter that beat Kostya Tzsu in 2005, but I think he will beat Paul Malignaggi. Both fighters were not at their best in their last fights, but the Hit Man and the Magic Man both won respectively. And that is all that really matters.

Levelvibes (U9274193) posted Aug 5, 2008 Paulie Malignaggi is a strong fighter. Let us not forget that he went 12 hard rounds with Miguel Cotto, when Cotto was a champion at lightwelterweight. The Magic Man was also knocked down, but got up and lost on points. This quite clearly suggests that Malinaggi is a strong 140lbs fighter. Not all fighters go the distance with the Puerto Rican.

Left-Wing-Wizard (U12922802) posted Aug 8, 2008 I've seen a fair bit of Malignaggi and I honestly think that Hatton will KO Malignaggi in the first 6 rounds. He just won't be able to handle the pressure Hatton puts on his opponenent.

ReallyTheRealDeal (U12942545) posted Aug 9, 2008 My stepdaughters have just got back from their hols to Tenerife. Guess who was out downing pints of Guiness every night? Yep, Ricky Fatton. He will get beaten into retirement by the much less talented Malignaggi because of his recklessness and I fully expect him to be boxing's equivalent of Gazza a few years down the line. What a shame. He was a great boxer who could have really achieved something on the world stage.

Levelvibes (U9274193) posted Aug 11, 2008 Ricky Hatton may not be the same fighter that beat Kostya Tzsu in 2005, but I have to disagree with the statement by Really The Real Deal. I doubt it that Hatton will become the boxing equivalent of the tragic Paul Gascoigne. Comment on this article
