The reason I think we are in a better postion now is when (and I do think it is a matter of when not if) we lose him next year we will get a decent fee for him rather than losing him for free.

I am Beve Struce - we tried to get him to sign for 3 but he said no only 2...

I suppose a deal is better than not at all but for all the commitment we've shown him and his "the fans are great" why mess us about so much?

erm

My thoughts were exactly the same as amc's - he will leave at some stage but at least now we'll get a decent fee when he does.

This is similar to Zamalek making Zaky sign a new contract to ensure they got a fee for him.

He is in the last year of his deal so effectively at the end of next season could have signed for nothing...

They made him sign an extension before they'd sanction the loan...

Beve, there will always be a piece of you at St Andrews - but when you crap in David Golds desk drawer then hide the key you wouldn't expect anything less would you? winkeye

I agree that if he was really committed it would have been a 3 or 4 year contract.

He won't be here this time next year, but at least now we will get a decent fee for him.

And let's be honest, if you lived in Birmingham you'd be bitter and twisted too.

IS it not a 2 year extension to his current deal, so we have him for the next 3 years?
