FOX CAUGHT AT WESTS RENAULT PARK

English Cambridge
comment on the article

Following a weekend of overdrive on the rumour mill, Cambridge RUFC announced the signing of former Saints flanker Darren Fox this afternoon. The 1.83m tall, 103 kg Peterborough-born back row is probably Cambridge`s most significant capture ever. The fact that he chose to drop down to National Two gives credence to Blood & Sand ambitions for this season - promotion is a priority, especially given the understanding that the RFU plan to tamper with the National League structures for 2009-10. Competition for places at Cambridge will be fierce, especially amongst the forwards, given the extensive recruitment campaign over the summer. So, who`s going to come out on top in National Two this season ? The debate starts here!

"Nicked Glen Remnant"....?.....not quite Cornish.
But lets not go there.
I think your analysis of Nat 2 is pretty accurate although i feel Blackheath will be a little stronger than you suspect as they have made a few signings.
More a saccharin daddy at present but we're licking him for all we're worth.
I wonder if we will need to call on the All Black and Wallaby arriving at Grange Rd next month, come xmas?......

re CEN - Paper today, ergo website this pm.Add Mr Boschup`s comments about mythological creatures from "Down Under" and it`s looking even better. I think the away trip to Launceston (doable there and back in a long day!) will be a belter!

Boschup, how many of your players come from East Angia less then we have Corish I suspect. We can field an entirely Cornish team, so I thin its alright to have a few foreigners (including English)

I`m sure Mr Boschup has his own views, but Cambridge have 7 ex-Saints,7 ex-Blues (local enough?) and some home-grown players... Most are English, there are a few South Africans and an Irishman and a Welshman, not to mention the US Eagles U20s skipper, who comes from Bury St Edmunds and gets stick on international duty as he`s so "British"...

Steves got it spot on on east anglia.....and as he says 4 in squad from our mini and youth....miles, hoad, otter, fielden of which two will be first picks i guess.....and some other young EA talent brought in recently from 25 mile radius.
I would love to have a home grown squad of 40 cambridge boys.....but its not going to happen.
Im happy with blend we have.
