Quiz Pat Rafter

comment on the article

Hi all

Pat Rafter is back on court this week, his first tournament event for seven years. The Aussie is playing at the BlackRock Tour of Champions event in Austria. He joins Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg, Michael Chang and Yevgeny Kafelnikov on the tour, which culminates with the Royal Albert Hall event in December.

In between matches against the likes of Goran Ivanisevic and Marcelo Rios this week, Pat has agreed to answer a selection of your questions. So fire away... by Wednesday at 1600 BST please.

Hi pat,
I was a big fan of your style of play, but i wanted to know how you felt your net rushing style would fare against the top players of the modern era- players like Nadal who hit with such pace and spin?

Hey Pat!:D

Some players like to be incredibly relaxed and calm when they play but others like to be very angry and fired up. Which did you prefer? And if you were fired up what angered or pumped you up? Was it the opponent or music etc?

Great to see you back on the court!!! :]

Hi Pat,

What are your memories of the incredible 2001 Wimbledon final you played against Goran Ivanisevic?

Hi Pat

Good to hear that you'll be back on court again!! I just want to ask you how many times you think you would chip and charge Nadal's serve on grass..I would reckon 75% of the time..And i'd also reckon you would win in four sets..What do you think?

Hi pat,
I have to say, I have been your biggest fan forever. No tennis player can replace you in terms of style and net approach.

Have you ever been a victim of defamation by the Media? If you were, how did you handle it?

Good to see you back Pat,
I was wondering what have you been up yo in the last seven years and what it was like to end your career as a pro, difficult to deal with not being part of it anymore or just a big relief?

Hi Pat.
Was lucky enough to work as a steward on the players entrance at the Guardian Direct Cup in Battersea a few years ago.
From that moment you became my favourite player as you found time to sign every single autograph, speak to us guys working at event, and even give disabled children a racket after each match.
How important in development of the sport do you think it is for the top players to be easily accesssible for the public?
