I'm guessing 8.

Paula Radcliffe - Marathon
Phillips Idowu - Triple Jump
Kelly Sotherton - Heptathalon
Christine Ohuruogu - 400 Metres
Victoria Pendleton - Track Cycling
Chris Hoy - Track Cycling
Rebecca Romero - Track Cycling
Nathan Robinson and Gail Emms - Badminton Mixed Doubles

Who do you think will win gold for GB and how many will we take home?

Fed will win Gold and then the US. Britain will win Gold in the rowing and possibly athletics.

2+2=4

I didn't know there was just one race in "Rowing". Who do you think will get the medal (singular) in "Rowing"?

And isn't it weird how some people measure their country's worth and their own self esteem solely by their sporting domination. The "great" part of GB comes from its geography (and as opposed to little Britain - Brittany), not from how many medals it wins at sporting events. Sport is fabulous and important but not that important for God's sake.

I'm going for 12, with Idowu being the most certain of the lot.

I think we will get one gold medal in the athletics with Phillips Idowu.

Other track and field medals could come via Kelly Sotherton, Christine O, Nicola Sanders, Paula Radcliffe and the women's 4x400 metre relay, but that;s it.

However, the cyclists are our strength. I hope to see several gold medals coming our way from that team. I have similar hopes in the rowing, but I'm worried that previously unknown Chinese rowers may upset things.

Since the nadir of Atlnata 1996 (one gold medal), we have won 11 and 9 at Sydney and Athens respectively. I think something similar this time is a reasonable expectation.

I didn't know they had a "fitness race" at the Olympics now too. How does that work?

The British tax payer pays through the nose to subsidise these people. Many of them haven't got a hope in hell of getting into a final let alone getting a medal. Why do we waste money like this when there are more pressing things to consider.

If someone wants to be a sportsman, then let them, but not at our expense. If/when they become winners and rake in the cash there's no move on their part to pay back the handouts they've received in order to live their dream.

Anyone failing to win a medal that dos not at least achieve a PB should have the funding withdrawn.

I know of no other occupation where people are funded while learning their trade.

If someone wins a medal, good for them, it will make no difference to my life. This nonsense about a feel good factor if we win lots of medals is just government hype to paper over the cracks. The OG lost their way many years ago and the ever increasing list of so called sports is just a joke.

I personally couldn't care less how many medals we win. Taking every gold in the games would still not alter the fact that we have men and women being killed in pursuit of someone else's political glory, or the fact that we have a mountainous national debt.

I've just gone to the BBC Homepage.

One subject heading says Olympics the next is Sport.

That says it for me.
