Still no signings

Premier League Everton

What is going on. Looks like A J is going, which I am a bit disapointed about. We are already short on number before this, so now thats one less. I hope Moyes has got something up his sleeve. He said last week he wants to sign five or six players, I can't see this happening between now and the season kicking off. Vaughn is injured, Vic is away at Olympics, AJ gone leaves us with one striker YAK. Surely we will not start the season with one fit Striker, plus a big lack of numbers in Midfield. I don't think the Youngsters are ready to step up yet, so we must sign some players very quickly or our season could be ruined.

here here! am sad to see aj go his workrate is second to none, attitude first class, playing up on his own for much of the time chasing and winning balls she shouldnt even go for!! maybe he didnt score loads of goals last season(maybe due to injurys) but everytime he pulled on the blue shirt he gave his teamates-manager 100% so Ithink he will be missed!

It's weird to see people taalking as if Moyes is planning to just start the season with the current squad. Of course he isn't. Everton have been working behind the scenes and trying to keep their business out of the papers. As the bid for Moutinho shows work is being done to get the players Moyes wants in. i'm not worried at all. unlike 4 or 5 years ago when Moyes was struggling with very limited funds and a poor recent rep for Everton no one wanted to join us. now players do want to join.

It also ignores the fact that it's AJ who seems to want to leave for family reasons (assuming the media are correct). The player wants to go so we should let him and get as much money as we can. The only problem i see is that Moyes was planning on keeping AJ, and as much as people want to have a go at his goal record, getting someone who is "guaranteed" to score more is likely to cost more than £10.5m and his work made a LOt of goals / chances for the rest of the team.

I think its a bad move, goals win games and unless moyes is about to spend at least 20+ for a real top quality striker you may struggle.

I know you have been liked with Moutinho who i think will be quality still have one of the smallest squads in the league, what ever happens good luck for the coming season.

I don't think players decide their future anymore on trophy's, its all down to wages mate, i do think moyes will bring in players this season but maybe your right the longer it goes on the more chance he will panic buy(look at the barry saga).

whoever he buys he must make a firm offer to begin with or it could take to jan to get them.

It may be worthwhile for some of you doom and gloom guys to have a bit more faith in David Moyes.

He doesn't look to me like a man who is panicking - if anything, he looked calm and relaxed when speaking on Everton TV.

He has faith in his players, he is also looking to add quality (eg players of the calibre of Moutinho) to the team and has his own way of working. I'm sure he knows who his targets are and is actively working to bring to the club what he feels is the quality to move the team forward.

Also he has taken four youngsters on the trip to USA who, he says have every chance of breaking into the squad this season - I know they are young, but they all possess quality - I don't recall anyone saying that Rooney was too young when he scored that goal against David Seaman, or Ryan Giggs was too young at 17 when he started for Utd.

Trust Moyes and the board to continue taking Everton football club in the right direction - as they have done in recent years - I do, and I sleep well each night!

I Trust Moyes fully!!! he is not he type to panic and he will get it right. My only concern is i thought we got off rather lightly last year with regards injuries. I dont think many teams have 2 seasons of light injuries, if so then they are lucky. So we are a bit thin on the ground with the bodys. Mountino and Arteta in the same side makes me smile though!!!! Hope so, it will make my first journey up from wales mouth watering.

Trying badly not to panic, but the transfer market this summer has been a rarity. Clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Pompey have been having to sell players to fund the new arrivals, and most worryingly there seems a real lack of value available.
For me the prices quoted for Moutinho are too high, Arshavin wants stupid wages and anything English will be WAY overpriced. Johnson leaving really upsets me too, as anyone who understands the game knows that his endeavour was the source of many of our goals last season - especially for the Yak (who lest we forget has a tendancy to decline in effort as his contract years tick on!).
Agree about Anichebe - not quite being good enough either, I hope he can up it a tad, but I fear not. Vaughan is BRILLIANT, but will he stay fit?
Also am I only the only person who thinks that Fernandes, is not only a better player than Moutinho, but will also be cheaper and has already got good premier league experience. OK he struggled a little on his return last season, but he was injured and unconfident after spending the whole season on Valencia's bench. By the last 5/6 games he was awesome for us again.

One more thing....Everton will definitely break their transfer record again this season (probably not till the end of August mind you).....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE not on Darren Bent!

Blues fans don't panic, are we really doubting Moyes after 6 years of brilliant management. I trust him all day and even if we cannot get all of the players we need by end of August, i don't think we need to panic. We have an excellent first 11 plus subs given no injuries now. When we get Moutinho, others will follow without doubt, if not now in Jan, giving the team the extra boost for the 2nd half of the season, unlike last year when we ran out of steam. In Moyes we trust.. EFC 1878

I believe that with or without AJ, Everton will remain the same as last year and that is being one of 2 or 3 clubs chasing the big 4 money clubs unless they do get that extra goalscoring strength from midfield. It's doubtful Cahill,Osman,Fernandes or Arteta will accomplish that.
