Bouma HAS a fracture (Update)

comment on the article

The General has now confirmed that Bouma has a fracture and torn ankle ligaments. This could be a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Bouma underwent surgery last night to reset his ankle. A part of a dislocation of an ankle can mean a break as well. A small metal plate was inserted also.

AVKernow - chill out, man. I know we're not seeing eye to eye with liverpool at the mo over the Barry situation, but think you were looking for insults to hard there!

Bearing in mind that we're at the end of July, 6 months from now would be end of January. The OS said it could be 4-6 months, and like others have said I'd rather Freddie had longer to recover and come back strong than rush to get back at the expense of his health/fitness, so February would be fine by me, just ready for the big push to the finish line

heavenschimney, I think we generally get quite lucky with players coming back quickly. I think it was when we had good old Jim Walker as our physio that the players used to get rehabilitated very quickly. That guy was a totally unsung hero.

why couldnt it be barry who got a severe injury, bouma doesnt deserve it hes a hard working player who never moans- always gives his best, maybe gareth barry could learn a thing or two by following his fellow players attitude

I am not a Villa fan but I live in Brum and would like to see them competing with the northern and London sides. However I feel this injury to Bouma far from being a disaster may prove to be a blessing in disguise (for Villa not the unlucky player). O'Neill has done a great job so far, but seems to be reluctant to bring in players especially if they are not under 25. However Villa have scraped through two seasons with a tiny squad and only early cup exits and relatively light injury problems have made this possible. With a European campaign and hopefully better cup runs Villa need a much bigger squad.

Bouma's injury could have happened after the transfer window had closed, that would have been a real problem. Perhaps everyone at Villa will realise that one player for each position is not enough if you intend to challenge domestically and in Europe. Villa are not a poor club but there seems to be a big reluctance to pay for players both in terms of wages and transfer fees. This is fine if you want to hang in mid table but I get the feeling Villa want to be more than that. I will be watching closely to see if this latest injury brings a bit more urgency to the Villa boardroom.

I can't understand how you could wish such an injury on another person, regardless. I also can't under how AVKernow can use one comment to represent so many.

Eduardo also dislocated his ankle on top of which he had his leg bone sliced down the middle by that evil tacle. Evan so he is unbelievably due back in training this october, with his recovery going well by all accounts.

Bouma's injury is more like the one suffered by another Arsenal player (Abu Diaby) two seasons back at sunderland. Again he has recovered & is being tipped for a big role this season.

Get we soon W.Bouma.
At Arsenal we hate to see this happen to anyone.

Agreed Livernirdmate, how could you wish a severe injury on anyone G-Villa. What a crazy thing to say, especially when Barry has given nothing short of 100% commitment when he has played.

Perhaps this is a bit of karma for the Villa fans who sang about Eduardo at the Emirates? I bet horrific leg injuries don't seem so funny now, do they?

One thing is for sure, Monty's gonna have to start buying, and soon. The back line is a bit shakey...

-------------------------

If that's kharma for Villa fans chanting about Eduardo, what had Eduardo done to deserve such an horrific injury in the first place? Work that Kharma out, cod religion boy. Seen as Davies has had cruviate and Bouma a nasty injury too in the great scheme of Kharma you lot are winning 2-1, so what's fair or equal about that? Kharma, nonsense, like Arsenal fans are whiter than white.
