I would say he's probably the best keeper in the Prem based on his form toward the end of the season. Cech and Van Der Sar are good too, but Friedel will have been more exposed and had more to do based on the fact he plays for Rovers rather than Man U or Chelsea. It's good business for us as we get £2m+ (I believe it's actually nearer £3m) who's probably only got 1 or 2 seasons left, he gets to double his money, and we get a 10 years younger international replacement for less than £1m. Good luck next season Brad and Villa .... bur not against Rovers! :o)

10 points? are you crazy? 20. This is speaking from experience. Sure going to miss him. What a reliable keeper. I think Rovers will go down without him. Robinson has to prove alot of people wrong. He may do well.

Top signing - was pleased to see him greet the crowd at half time today.

Thought Stuart Taylor was fairly solid in nets today but Friedel is a cut above.

great keeper and a good signing for sum reason he reminds me so much of shay given probly because they both play for teams with bad defences and are usaly the unsung heroes

definetely a great keeper, but at 37 isn't quite one for the future and at 2 mil is rather expensive. 1.5 mil more and they could have kept carson who's 15 years younger

Maybe, but I actually watched Villa last season & right deal was made. Carson cost us points last season, and failed to make up for them in the credit column with vital saves. If Friedel had been playing for Villa last season and saved us as many points as he did for Blackburn, the Barry saga wouldnt have happened.. We have quality for the next 2 seasons which we needed, and who's not to say that Guzan (assuming work-permit is granted) may turn out a better long term prospect than Carson anyway.
GK position sorted. Now come on O'Neill and sign those flamin' Full-Backs!

Talking about how many points Brad Friedl may be worth over a season...hard to say...at least 10 points, may be more...contrast that with how, in my view, Carson cost the Villa at least 10 points last season...

An an excellent buy...

He's worth 10 points easily. I think he single-handedly saved Blackburn from religation the first year they returned to the prem. If he was 27 instead of 37, he'd be selling for 30M.

Letting Friedel go was probably the worst mistake Liverpool made in the last 10 years.

i think i can only remember friedel messing up once in 8 seasons. its sad to see him go, especially to a rival club, but wish him all the best. hes solid, and now and again is in spectacular form, like saving 2 penalties in the same game a couple of seasons ago, and having a blinder on numerous other occasions.
