Brave Leeds, but well done Saints

It was going to be tough even with our first choice full back, centre, winger and scrum half with all their powers. Without them, very little hope. Great effort all round though.

I'm off to get drunk.

Well done both teams for an entertaining match. In reality there is very little between the 2 teams. Leeds lost their best player when Burrow went off and they lacked any sort of penetration against a steel defence.

Added to that you cannot beat a great team like Saints when you keep giving away penalties late in the tackle count. Having said that Leeds could have easily won the match in the second half.

These 2 teams will meet in the grand final and who would be surprised to see Leeds bounce back. There is a lot of genuine respect between the two camps but don't expect the fans to join in.

Leeds to defend their Super League title.

You poor Leeds fans see what you want to see. It doesn't matter if your foot is only an inch in the air you are still in the air and the Referee was correct. I wonder some times how supporters see a game. If your idea or knowledge of Rugby is as good as your geography ie St Helens is in Liverpool(same as Leeds is in Bradford) I think you should go back to grass roots Rugby and learn the rules. I notice you are not quick to point out all the decicions that went in your favour. You lost and it doesn't matter how much you complain the score still stands. By the way where does Klein live? Is it a suburb of Leeds by any chance?

That's all well and good mate, but he'd hit the ground when he got tackled! It was a drop out!

And we're not quick to point out decisions that went in our favour because THERE WEREN'T ANY!!

Leeds fans seem to only be picking the decisions klein gave to saints hmm i wonder why, what about the kick through from pryce in the first half. Hall jumped on it but knocked it on but the ref said play the ball that was 2 meters from the leeds line so we could of had a scrum in a very good attacking position. Leeds early on were slowing the play the ball down and got away with it, and the penalty against maurie where a leeds player was dragging him up by his shirt collar after he was tackled. So as you see we could say the ref was giving leeds loads of decisions its swings and roundabouts. At the end of the day saints deserved the win and thats why we are off to wembley.

So nothing went your way? What about the incident with Maurie? You got the free kick when Saints should have had it.A player should have been sin binned for persistent high tackles. You kept stealing the ball with two in the tackle and given the feed at the scrum and Senior threw a tantrum the only time it didn't work. You were off side the whole match and stifled the opposition you do it every week and get away with it so I suppose you don't know it is was wrong. You didn't stand square at the play the ball. Like you I could keep going but the game has to flow. When you consider the high tackles and dissent from Leeds Saints had four more penalties than you. Is that not allowed? I think the benefit was well in your favour don't you?

Congratulations St Helens but as a a fan of the game in general I think all clubs should take a leaf out of your book with regards to discipline.
Check out the Super League Stats for 2008 - you boys have an outstanding record. On average every team in Super League is penalised 36% more than yourselves in every game.
We are not worthy, we bow to your superiority!

Shame to see cheats allowed to carry on ......I support no Rugby League team but Dwayne Chambers was punished for cheating appears it is OK to cheat in Rugby League....wonder how other supporters will feel next time they loose to a team that breaks that rules...once a precedent set ?

The reason the Saints stats are so good is because Daniel Anderson is a stickler for discipline. They were all made to lose weight because of the new rule were you had to have two feet behind the referee etc. If you keep giving penalties away or cause problems no matter how good you are you are out. A few of the ex players can back that up.

A few incidents for you to mull over where Leeds were given the advantage:

1. Saints player tackled by two Leeds players. Ball carrying arm is on the ground and player is being held by a tackler. A Leeds player begins to drag the already tackled player backwards by his shirt collar. Klein allows the defender to drag him nearly 5 metres backards.

2. Leeds player tackled. Before standing up to play the ball rolls 2 metres forwards. Klein pulls the defense and markers back 2 metres.

3. 2-man tackle on a saints player. The second tackler stands up, and at the same time a third Leeds player falls onto the tackle. Klein allows play to continue.

4. Fa'asavalu runs into a tackle and is greated by a flurry of fists and foreamrs to the head. Fa'asavalu understandably doesn't like this, stands up and pushes the Leeds player infront of him. Klein penalises this.

5. Leeds player dives on a kick through, clearly knocking on in the process. Klein waves play on.

Do you still think that nothing went Leeds' way, even after these few examples. Don't forget you played the full 80 with 13 men, despite being penalised at least 5 times for high tackles, and being penalised for a proffessional foul which should be a straight yellow card.
