Why do people hate Ronaldo so much??

Premier League Manchester United
comment on the article

People will reply with "he dives" "winker" and etc. saying he has a big ego and is selfish... but personally I feel that there are far FAR worse characters out there. Many of the people that criticise Cris about greed and etc. would do the exact same thing themselves in his position - want more and more money.

However, Ben Thatcher, Joey Barton and more people like this - aren't they the ones that should be hated? I despise Joey Barton but everything seems to be about hating "lesser evils" like Ronaldo. I think Joey Barton should never be on a football pitch again. Hate him instead.

Your thoughts?

...Alas, It's a British thing that our media wants to bring down it's high and mighty. And I'm sure eventually they always succeed - it sells papers.

I do laugh though to see all other fans trying to find any fault with him in the hope that he leaves Man U.

Those of us that love Football appreciate his ability and recognise his rare ability, but his boyhood dream of Playing in Spain is made out by the media to be for money so as to drum up resentment.

I kind of hope that he goes to spain, as England doesn't appreciate quality players with style. He would be best suited to spain or italy.

But of course those of us who enjoy the game would lose out to the plonkers who talk about nonsense rather than genuine talent.

Ronaldo is a good player anyday but money can also turn anybody's head, money is name of the game. I understand he was told that if certain trophies were won he will be allowed to leave so why the noise.

3. RONALDO will not be in REAL the star he was in MANCHESTER UNITED. REAL have many stars and he will not shine as much. Plus, stars at REAL have a very short shelf life. Therefore, it is in RONALDO's best interest to see out his contract with MAN UTD until its last year -- and THEN negotiate.

---------------------------------------

What a load of absolute bull... Name me 1 star in the Real line up nowadays.. Real have 2 players who would get in Utds starting eleven. Casillas and Ramos.. Thats it, you can argue all you like but the facts are that he would be numero 1 and Real by a distance

Svigos,

Mostly spot on, but although the diving and gamesmanship is secondary it lessens him in most people's eyes, in fact a large proportion of fans detest him because of that (and some of his stupid comments about slavery don't help).

I was in a pub in Brixham the night that Portugal played Germany in the Euros. Virtually the whole pub was supporting the Germans because they wanted Ronaldo to lose...

However, if you want a good take on the whole thing go to this page,

As a footballer-you have to admit he has "the skills"
As a footballer-he needs a better attitude on the pitch
As a football icon-he needs to seriously re-think his fashion choices!
As a person-I don't know him, never met him, never WILL meet him (probably) so can't judge.

Do I want him to leave ManU? Heck yes! But that could be because I'm a Liverpool fan (in peace for the record)

I wonder how wayne rooneys form will go at the start of the season without Ronaldo, here we have the classic example of a footballer who would do anything his managers asks just because he loves playing football, he was ronaldo's legs for last season sacrificing his own game so that Ronaldo could play his own style, i hope Rooney takes this chance while Ronaldo's injured to show us all what he's capable of again.

quality comments...

Van Nistelrooy - Think Utd had his best years out of him. Hienze better than Evra then?? Course he is.. Robben had a few good months in the Prem until defenders learnt he didnt like any physical contact so he couldnt cut it in the prem, Sneijder and Robinho are valued so highly by Real that both are ready to be off loaded to finance the Ronaldo move and as for Saviola and Diarra being good enough for UTd then its you who's in dreamland. Dont make me laugh about your knowledge of spanish footy either, we all have sky sports or have you been flying over to madrid every weekend? and had you been watching you would know that Real are nothing special, defensively they are and always will be inept.

to superAdam,

You must be my brain twin! I am a Man U fan even though the premier money power pisses me off. ( gone are the old-old first division days, eh )
I was gob-smacked at Ferguson when he sold off V. N.
Then again, he kicked a boot at Beckham did he not? Sometimes I think a Sunday league coach could manage the team better, just get fit and do your stuff boys and don't hit the beer the night before, ha! ha! Lastly, have you ever seen a full back play with so much heart as Hienzey? Like me, you haven't!

As for Spain, they were lucky in the run up and it took two of the younger boys to win it. Fabregas would not have played if it wasn't for the other guys injury.
Real Madrid, the grave yard of premiership footballers, that's all I want to say.
