Congratulations, Sunderland, on acquiring a player like Tainio who always put in real effort for Spurs, filling in positions where necessary, and, oddly, not having such versatility appreciated by some fans for what it was. Spurs fans will be wishing him all the best for the future at Sunderland.

Whichever way you look at it all of the 4 will improve our squad. Tainio is better than Etubob and Whitehead put together and should slot in the centre with a creative player like Reid or Richardson. Bardsley would be my first choice RB so not sure where Chimbonda will fit in, Malbranque would command RW as he's proven premier league and if there is a major earthquake Kaboul could slot in CB along with Noz or a new CB.

Tainio and now Kaboul pending tomorrow's medical. It really is beginning to look like Sunderland are going to sign all four players and have pulled off one of the cleverest deals they've ever done. Building layer on layer, Keane and a very shrewd Niall Quinn have set their goal for this season (one free from relegation threat)and identified sensible player targets to help them do that. The players improve the squad and we've done a great job in attracting them to Sunderland. Never mind that they've paid a few million over the market valuations. They've not wasted any time on over-ambitious bids but have gone and done it! Well done lads - this has moved us up a level.

as a spurs fan, im gutted. tainio was a good player, i cant believe we let him go. oh well, thats football. sunderland have got themselves a good player there. thats another thing, this is how transfers should be done. once the deal is done, then let the public know, unlike ferguson and how hes approached berbatov. grats sunderland.

i think its a great signing, hope the other 3 will come, we need a good striker to go with jones when he is back and hopefully we can have a good season.

Spurs fan here. Tainio is a very reliable player, he will not let you down. Chimbonda, well, he's OK but regularly out of position, will cost you a few goals but is good in the tackle. Decent but not great. Kaboul isn't the finished article but has buckets of potential. Shame to see him go but he's too good to be on the bench I guess.

Personally I don't want Steed Malbranque to leave WHL. I thought he was one of our top performers last season, especially being played out of position on the left. He would be a fabulous signing for you, and I hope you won't be offended if I say that I am hoping it doesn't happen.

Sorry to see Teemu go he will always get a welcome back @ the Lane. 100% player all the time.
You are very welcome to Chimbonda. Can be very good but moody and can be very slow to get back after he has pushed forward.
Agree with comments about Steed, really seemed to improve last season after not convincing me before.
Younes makes mistakes but has great heart and is young enough to make a lot of improvement. Expect Mr Keane will be on his case a few times this year if he joins the black cats!

Tainio is a quality player, great signing for sunderland! hopefully we can sell sunderland chimbonda and melbranque as well, both great players but i can see ramos re-freshing the squad with a few better players!
Don't care bout kaboul he's got the wrong attitude; i remember 1 of his 1st games for us and he had a bad tackle against him; he chased the player half the pitch and took him down 1st oppertunity! Completely switched off from rest of the game!

Tainio was my man of the match in the 5-1 Arsenal game last season when he filled in for Zokora who was at African Nations. He's very quick and not afraid to get stuck in, bit like Steffen Freund was. He will be missed, especially as he was a confessed Spurs fan. Good luck to him at Sunderland and a big welcome if or when he plays at WHL in the future.
