Is Lorenzo Crazy?

Someone once said "there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity".

I used to think Lorenzo was a tough, brave rider. But after his latest spill is he pushing too hard - beyond his ability? How many bad accidents can a body take? Pedrosa sat out the US GP to rest his body. Should Lorenzo have done the same earlier?

Mind you, I also rode a motorcycle for 300 miles with a broken ankle instead of going to the hospital. But it was a stupid thing to do.

On another note, have a look at Pedrosa's Nationality (in Brackets) in the championship standings list at the bottom of this article:

Are they saying something about his riding style?

Like Stoner 2 years ago, Jorge has found the limit (too many times by now) and needs to pull it back a couple of notches. I wouldn't say he's lost the plot, but I have to agree he needs to stop landing on his head or he'll be swerving to avoid the giant pink elephants.

It's hard to change your nature. Lorenzo, for me, is the biggest thing to hit MotoGP since the arrival of the 990's. I'm that convinced about his quality. Unlike Stoner, his mistakes arn't front end slides but highside nightmares. I put the blame firmly in Michelins yard for this last one. They were beyond doubt hopeless for Laguna.

How can they not of adjusted, do they not realise that overnighters and geographical advantage is no longer theirs - work for your money boys - the Bridgstone lads have had to for years and now it's paying off in spades.

Lorenzo must switch tyres next year. I'd be amazed if he doesn't. (I question wether Honda will stay with them too, given they want a World Champ asap)I pray he gets fit, clears his head and comes back stronger. BUT, he must now truly wonder what's underneath him and this must slow him down.

We have been robbed of our racing when 2 of the best youngsters to come up arn't battling with Stoner and Rossi at the front. I feel cheated. I guess they're not too happy about it either.

Jorge is capable of becoming a legend. The start of the season proved that. He almost seemed invincible. The mitchelins might be partly the problem but the main isssue is confidence. He was so over confident at the start and now he's lost that confidence completely. If he could just get that back he'd be back to his outstandingly talented ways...perhaps a course of hypnotherapy is in order??!!!biggrin

HAhaha The title of the article "Lorenzo escapes with broken foot", hardly an escape considering what he has been through.

This may be a good sign, Rossi claimed the title after his crash infested debut season, so did Stoner, does this mean we are looking at the 2009 Motogp Champion?

I wouldnt bet against it, hopefully without being labelled as a crasher, as most people seem to like him.

The question of this thread is "Is Lorenzo Crazy?"

I remember him at a post race interview after he'd won an exciting 125 race being asked how do you (the riders) do it?

His response was "You have to remember - we're all crazy"

So the answer to the thread question is - 'Yes'.

So Lorenzo is 21 and Pedrosa will be 23 in September. Stoner will be 23 in October, so he's actually younger than Pedrosa.

i think hte fact that he was so fast in the beginning has probably helped with his demise, those first few races where he showed his awesome talent could have made him over confident, i think he will do well not to crash again this season but you need to push it to beyond the limit to know where the limit is and he has had some devastating crashes this season and it shows his great deapth of character to be able to even get his leg over the machine let alone race like a man possessed. is he crazy hell yes they all are to be racing but i wouldnt want it any other way

he's a talent that would have definetly been up there this season without the crashes. shame about his injuries, as he could have made up an interesting 4 way battle for the championship..i wouldnt bet against him winning more races this year.
he's definetly a champion of the future in my opinion.

Lorenzo is ridiculously talented, and I hope the recent spate of injuries and the DNF at Laguna doesn't dampen his spirits.

It'd be nice to see someone with some real grit and talent bashing fairings with Rossi, in stead of the current battle of Rossi's ability vs Stoner's technology.

Plus he and Dani Pedrosa don't exactly get on either - and we all know what happens when two really good riders really hate each other.

Sheene and Roberts? Rainey and Schwantz? Rossi and Biaggi? If Lorenzo and Pedrosa produce some full-on wheel-to-wheel fights like those duos did, then the future could be bright...

Crazy - yes thaey all are. He is strong and he will fight his deamons to get over this, I hope he does not crash again, but sadly i fear he may.

I just hope they know why the bike keeps doing this to him, because when he gets thrown off and he does not know why will be when its harder for him to get back on.

Go Jorge!!!!!!
