T20 Finals Day - the best value ticket?

Twenty20

From the Rosebowlplc website...

"With two Semi-Finals and Final in one day of back to back Twenty20 action, Finals Day is the best value ticket in sport."

At £49 per adult ticket, I hope the place is empty.

When the ECB got the huge payout from switching cricket from Ch4 to Sky Sports, they promised to give a large portion back to grassroots cricket. I don't know of any local village club who has seen any of this cash.

Cricket is quickly becoming obsessed with money.

I think the administrators will eventually ruin the sport so much that the players will eventually form their own league/cricket board - like golf did years ago - to ensure the money goes to the right places and not lining the wrong pockets.

It won't be if the England players are missing. Apart from fielding I don't think any of the England batsmen were on the field for too long and there is a long rest eriod in between Tests. It will be interesting to see who plays for RSA at Worcestershire or have they cried off?

completely agree, do england expect the fans to spend £1500 to travel to the west indies for games over there that dont even count so the players can try and earn $1,000,000 er no, although at least we know where £50 on the SELL OUT terrestrial tv money went

Finals day is devalued if the best players are not allowed to be selected. Playing in Finals day would be relaxation for Strauss and Cook compared with playing against the South Africans. It would also reward the overcharged spectator.

to be fair - twenty20 has never been on terrestrial.
And the match is sold out at £49 per head because of the passionate fans attending - especially from here in essex. Im a big Essex fan and wouldnt of minded paying that if i was to go. Unfortuantely there is a big family party for me to attend.
Today i started to queue at Chelmsford for the Friends Provident Final. And i gave up as there were about 1000 people in front of me.

Oh shut up for god sake.
Harping on about the TV rights - just shut up.
Twenty Twenty WAS NOT on Channel 4 before Sky had the rights!
Sky accquired all the rights for the 20/20 and Channel 4 had the Friends Provident Trohpy final.
For £49 a ticket, thats for 3 MATCHES!
You are getting your moneys worth for 3 MATCHES, a 20/20 mascots derby and some great cricket.
I just wihs someone will stop complaining!

Given that the last test finished on Monday and Strauss hasn't played anything since Sunday why should half a day in the field with another two days rest be so necessary.

Seems to me Middlesex are getting the short end this season. Having won through for home advantage for the quarterfinals they had to forgo the home advantage because a test match being played at lords a few days later. fortunately as they were only playing Lancashire it wasn't too much of a problem.

The other thing I can't get my head around is how Glamorgan qualified to play Durham. Yorkshire played Notts in a match in which the winner progressed to the quarterfinals. In most sports if an ineligible player is used the result is awarded to the non offending team. Why not in this case. This ineligible player had quite an impact on the result and notts might well have won had he not been playing. The match should either have been replayed or awarded to Notts.
