Cech signs new Chelsea deal

Premier League Chelsea
comment on the article

It's Monday morning - and the news breaks that Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has signed a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge.

How big a boost is this for new Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari?

And is Cech the best goalkeeper in the world, or does he have a way to go before reaching the heights of the likes of Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon?

Let us know your thoughts.

nufcf2008irock have u been living on mars for the past 2 years? Do u really believe that Cech is scared of the ball and is wearing the hat as a fashion statement or are u just an idiot?

there is a reason no mention of reina...and the mention of VDS??? Have you watched him? Without his good defence he will flap and make rash calls, he is a good shot stopper but not if he gets time to think about things or make decisions!

Cech is very good but it is Casillas vs Buffon for top spot, Casillas will become outright the best as he gets older

Czech is good but if the BBC were to be the judge, Calamity James or Robinson would be a better bet for the number one spot.

The reader who said, 'Casillas who?'says it all, for english views.

Lol!

These are the top 5 best goalkeepers in the world:

1. Cech
2. Casilas
3. Buffon
4. Riena
5. Van Der Sar
----------------

Even though Van Der Sar kept more clean sheets and had a better record than all of them

Definitly, Cech is one of the five best goalkeeper in the world, but he's not the best to me as Buffon is. Every major club is dreaming of such a goalkeeper!

"and why has Victor Valdes been pushed aside in this debate?"
-------------------------------------

Because he's not that good, and if he was at a club that actually cared about strengthening the team in their own half of the pitch, he would have been finished at Camp Nou after 6 months!

He doesn't come for crosses, misses them if he does. He isn't anywhere close to the top level at shot-stopping.
And his flap at a 30 yard looping header with no pace on it was embarrassing for him in the CL against Celtic!
