David Obua

Scottish Premier Heart of Midlothian

Has officially signed on (not in the same way that fans of the 'Tic do, don't worry).

I'll stick my neck on the line and suggest that he is Hearts first ever Ugandan international. I just wonder what he's like. I'd imagine no-one really has too in-depth an understanding of the Ugandan national team on these boards so only time will tell.

What I would suggest, however, is that, on review of the sort of clubs the Ugandan guys are at, I reckon they'd gnaw their own arms off to get a gig in Scotland. In which case, do you reckon we can presume that Obua has pretty much been cherry-picked by Csaba as the best Uganda have to offer?

Regardless, let's hope the guy settles and becomes a major player for us. For what it's worth, he appears to be on Facebook...

Roll on more crucial signings.

Played a few more matches since?

They also have different rules in Scotland to England, don't they?

I also love the idea that as the Lithuanians are called Lits, any Ugandans by reason then become 'Ugs'...brill.

First of all it is good to see that we are signing someone eventually. But do we really need another defender or midfielder. Who we should be looking to sign is 2 or 3 strikers. Last season we didn't score enough goals, so although i'm happy to see a new signing of any kind (that isn't lithuanian), i'd much rather see an attacking signing than a defensive one. And does anyone know if the scottish premier predictor is restarting this season on the bbc.

Can't say I was overly excited when he was merely a name, and a random african one at that, playing for a country who dont exactly bristle with footballing pedigree.

But alot of posters who have seen the guy rate him highly. Indeed, the more i look into this guy and his background, the more excited I get. Do bear in mind he is Uganda's best player (possibly not saying too much) but he did also bag a hattrick against Nigerian - from midfield. That's handy enough in its own right.

I really did not like Hearts at all last season, or before that. But now, it looks like exciting days for Hearts, good luck, and I, as a Chelsea and Rangers fan will look onwards with a more friendly eye.

He is not Ugandas best Player. Ugandas best player is Ibrahim Sekagya (Salzburg - Austria). I would rather say he is an amazing footballer with a great footballing brain and a wondeful left foot Watchout for him
