You don't really have a clue do you?
"You don't know Green's salary, you don't know Fred's salary (£60k-£80k is a pretty vague effort don't you think?).
If you're going to regurgitate the nonsense you absorb from the Press you're on to a loser from the start."

Well on Freddies salry I have seen 60 & 80k qouted, not being his accountant I couldn't swear to either and beyond John Arne Riise a year back who out there can emphaticly state they know what players are on?

As for regurgitating nonsense from the press, again is not that what were all doing? (unless anyone wants to declare they are a club official or agent) How do you get your facts then?

I think it's good of West Ham to come out and say this. If Manchester United had done the same as soon as Ronaldo opened his mouth and had said " he is tied down to a 2 year contract, he will not be sold .. end of" we may not have had to be bored day in day out of storys about his move to Madrid ZzZz...

I think that Green was wrong to go public like this but I also think the club was equally wrong to throw down the gauntlet just as publicly. The right thing to have done was to get Green into the ofice, sit him down and say "now what's all this about Greeny?", then try to come to some sort of compromise, like maybe an offer to look at his wages in Dec. instead of next summer, based on his performance to then, or maybe a bonus based on performance. Whatever, I think the club could have handled this better.
Still, in the end the real culprits in all this, are two men, one a very inexperienced man who was at the helm, and two, a manager who (by his own admission) had never had so much money to spend. Neither handled their situations very well and as a result, some very bad decisions were made which have come back to haunt us.

I do feel sorry for him though, as he hasn't had a 90 minuted England match throughout his carrer, and he let in so many goals last season for West Ham although they were caused most of the time by our defence, and finally he deserves to be playing in the top 4 or 5.

Green has consistently been one of our best players. He has every right to ask to be rewarded for his efforts, and the club should have told him to be patient while they try to trim the books. I think Green would have accepted this as he has shown to be loyal and is not asking for a transfer.

Coolpompey makes an extremely good point about parity. I still dont understand why all clubs dont pay players based on performance with a fixed, much lower basic wage, then we would finally be able to see Dyer, Ljunberg, Bellamy and the rest of the prima donnas at West Ham get off the treatment table.

Fatkams

West ham have got rid of the prima donnas.

Bellamy and Lungberg put in a hundred percent when they are playing.

Lungberg tried very hard in all games he played last season. Your comment is pathetic .

if green feels like that we should just let him go i like the guy he has done well for us but i would not want anyone that does not want to play for us staying at the club!!!

And if we was a wise club we would have sold him by now for 6 to 8 mill and gone in for scott carson who is now at west brom and cost them 3.5 mill but that would have made sense and would go againest all things hammers!!

I like Robert Green and at times he was a one man show in some of our the games last season and games we've had in the past. Who could forget the Arsenal game at the Emirates for example? Both he and Bobby saved the day. It is unfortunate he negotiated his contract recently and entered in to it with eyes wide open which makes this outburst seem like dolls out of the pram. However, if he is undervalued way beyond some of the current crop then it is perhaps unfair. However, giving in to this demand may open a pandora box for the club who are trying to get the wage bill down. No one player is bigger than a club and I tend to agree with hamm3rs1966 selling him on would be good business if he is not content to stay. The big money in the game is ruining the sport and competition.

I am dissapointed with Robert Green. If he was happy enough to sign the deal with a review in the summer of 2009 then he should stick to it.
I have been a Hammer for over 40 years and we have always cashed in on our best players for as long as I can remember. So well done to the board this time for coming out and stating their case. The press as always are stirring it all up. Stay put Robert and you will be rewarded.
