Loyal Luton - Chairman's Update

League Two Luton Town

Yesterday evening I spoke to Stephen Browne and the message coming out again was very positive and in line with our own "rallying the troops" communication on Wednesday in that it is very much business as usual and he remains confident that we will have a very successful season. Being a true fan, Stephen obviously sympathises and understands some of the nerves and worries that many fans have been feeling over the last week, however, he was very reassuring to me and key messages to come out included;

* We will definitely be out of Administration before the start of the season, although we should understand there will be formalities that will take a while to complete so don't expect it all to happen in one day for example.
* Whether we are in or out of Administration we still have to abide by the same League's rules; the mandatory embargo re players coming in and out and the various wages restrictions. Therefore coming out of Administration doesn’t necessarily mean we can immediately go out there and buy a whole new squad as we have to bear in mind wage caps and obviously the greater focus of getting the total wage bill down over time to manageable levels.
* For point of clarity any player sale proceeds that are received now go straight to the Club. The Football League has already agreed that 2020 has to pay 16p in the £ to all creditors so any monies now received will go towards rebuilding the Club.
* We now know following the Football League decision that we will definitely get our Golden Share back.
* ALL THE INVESTORS REMAIN TOTALLY COMMITTED BEHIND THE CLUB AND THEIR INVESTMENT COMMITMENTS.
* We will eventually come out of administration in the best way for the Club.
* Season ticket sales have been very encouraging especially since the recent Football League and FA decisions. To me this confirms the great reaction I have seen across the whole fan-base over the last week and one that has made me very proud to be a Luton fan.

What we also have to appreciate is that the 2020 team have unfortunately had to neglect some of their duties because of the need to deal with both the FA and Football League matters. However, as ever they are working tigerishly away at the moment and are focusing on maximising income for the Club whilst also trying to ensure Mick Harford has the most competitive team available in the circumstances.

I know many of you have been asking what to do now. As per my message on Wednesday the main contribution we can make is supporting the Club as loyalty means sticking through thick and thin. If you can afford it then buy a season ticket, if not then think about the direct debit scheme or just try and attend as many matches as your purse strings allow. When at matches we need to be as one so that means getting 100% behind the whole squad through the whole match until that final whistle is blown.

We also have four home friendlies coming up starting next Tuesday against Leicester and the more peo

50yearsablade refers to a 30 deduction of points. It should be remembered that there are two elements to this '30 point deduction'. The first is a 10 deduction by the FA for breach of its procedures regarding the payment of agents. This is only justifiable in the case of LTFC on the grounds that the sanction is intended to act as a deterrent to other clubs.

The question is why was there no points deduction in the case of West Ham United, popularly called the Hammers? If my memory serves me right the Hammers were fined something in the order of several million pounds, which although substantial, was a lesser penalty than a points deduction which would have meant relegation from the Premier League. The impression is that favourable treatment has been given to the Hammers, who have been able to buy their way out of trouble.

I dont know who you are Hatters21 but you say we have to watch how much we spend !!we cant just go out and buy players!! because of the wage cap? What wage cap theres hardly anyone left to pay wages to!!or are you thinking of filling in with the youth team maybe?Get real if you want any sort of support you have to spend to give Mike a chance to redeem the Hatters.Cheers.

for sure rules were broken years ago and we now have to accept the consquences, but what i wonder is if manu or chelsea had done the same thing, would a 30 point deduction be put in place? i suspect not as it seems the bigger, richer clubs can pay their way out of heavy punishments. The football authorities claim they want to clean up the game, but dishing out punishments like this to lower clubs like us and leeds and not to bigger clubs in itself, is corruption. It seems honesty is not a policy recognized by the fa or the football league, as we did speak out against corrupt parties involved in the club. it seems that if their is corruption in your club, your safer just ignoring it than reporting it.

You don`t have to wonder what would have happened if Man U or Chelsea had done the same thing because Birmingham and Newcastle HAVE done the same thing....check out the Stephens report.... and absolutely no action has been taken.

It`s again falling to the fans to pick up the pieces. The F.A. have not punished the people who put the club into this position, they`ve scarpered. This could happen to most of the clubs in most of the leagues except for the top few. It`s money ruling the world.

There's an old music hall song which goes :-
.
It's the rich wot gets the pleasure,
And the poor wot gets the blame.
It's the same the whole world over,
Ain't it all a blinkin' shame.
.
West Ham and Luton Town, you know your roles !
.
Good luck in the future Hatters, I hope you live to see better days before too long.

As a Bristol City fan, we suffered 3 relegations in a row, and virtual extinction, at the start of the 80s - but importantly we have proved you CAN come back strongly.

Good luck to all the loyal hatters.

Let's get out of administration, get those we need to sell/want to go/etc out, let Mick bring in the best he can do....

Let's stick our middle finger up to the FA, let's get down to what matters here....No more talking, let's start playing and winning!

We're Luton Town FC...and we won't die! You wanna stack the odds against us? Fine.

Bring it ON!!!!

Your heart goes out to LTFC. 20 point deduction is probably right BUT how can they justify an additional 10 points.
I know, let's get the litle guy.

Different set of circumstances, BUT West Ham! Come on. A few million quid fine & safety secured.

It wasn't so long ago that my team were losing regularly to the Hatters. Chelsea came perilously close to being relegated to the old 3rd division & if so ( Thanks Sir Clive!)what might have happened?

So come on Luton. Nicco is back. That'll put some fire in the collective belly.

Up the 'atters!!!
