stringfellowhawke (U6726805) posted Jul 18, 2008 So, if I understand this correctly, the BCCI will not allow any Indian players to play in a side which has ICL players. But they will allow Dimitri Mascarenhas (who plays for a team with ICL players) to play for an IPL team. There is some consistency for you. I hope one of the players challenges them in court.

sharand (U6949928) posted Jul 18, 2008 As both and Indian and Notts fan I am dismayed and disappointed by the seemingly vindictive attitude of the BCCI. I am sorry, but this money grabbing attitude needs to be stopped. As a Notts fan I was looking forward to watching VVS in action. As a India fan I am concerned that the money comes first attitude of the BCCI will burn out the Indian Stars in the ever more hectic and sometimes meaningless schedule they have to follow! Look at Dhoni and the fact he has to sit out the Sri Lanka tour since he is simply drained. Frankly I hope and pray that the unholy combination of Politicians and Business people who rule the roost at the BCCI will be a thing of the past once people see the damage they are doing Indian cricket in particular and the reputation of India in general.

Sopwith_Camel (U11240053) posted Jul 18, 2008 The sad thing is that the more the BCCI and other boards try to force their way around, the more support there will be for non-sanctioned leagues. The boards are not there to define what is cricket and what is not. The more they play politics and force their brand on the world, the higher chance there is that fans will support a rebel or just move away from the game. Imagine if the rebel players formed their own rebel national teams - a decade ago that would be unthinkable and near treason; these days they may even have a chance of success. The boards have to remember that in the end, all the money they are chasing is coming from the pockets of fans like you and me, who are feeling more and more like we're being robbed.

jinius12 (U7565050) posted Jul 19, 2008 The ECB did it with Englands contracted players, it was always going to be reciprocated by the BCCI. As an England supporter you have to realise you cannot have your cake and eat it. We stopped our internationals playing for Indian teams, now India are preventing their internationals playing for English teams!

OBR (U6800322) posted Jul 20, 2008 The ECB only stopped England players playing in the IPL as there was a clash with England fixtures. Quite different from the BCCI throwing their weight around.
