Nobody panic, this week has seen good business. Fowler goes, Bent doesn't come...it's a financial windfall!

Did anybody really want Bent? I bet the boys in brum are a bit gutted. Can't wait till he comes down here this season...I'm sure those behind the dug out will get their say as he sits on the bench gathering splinters.

Well alot of fans on here wanted him. I think I was the only 1 who didnt want him here. All my work mates looked at me when I screamed "YES!" when I saw that the move collapsed!

Good to see you guys are not down..
although i agree with some, but not all,
i actually thought bent would have been a good signing for you guys, he's not that bad, he was wigans top scorer, in a below average prem team, and i can confirm, I'm not overly excited at him landing at the blues, we already have enough good forwards so he will be on the bench a bit, at 30yrs old and not 32 as quoted above, he would have prob started all the games for you guys, and I'm always weary of a guy who settles for the bench at his age, unless he has intentions of fighting for his place..
anyway dodged bullet or not, we will see, and hope your quest for a striker or 2 concludes soon,
cant understand why your board have not taken Morrison on a free.

I agree wiv onlyme35 morrison is available and unlike bent has a very good track record 4 scoring goals! Bent has only twice scored more than 10 in a season over a 12 year career! However Morrison had done so every season at Palace! (except his first 1 bt he did score 1 in 1 didnt have great scoring record at Birmingham! But i think being a year younger than Bent as well he could be a great signing!

Why do we need 30 + aged strikers ,this is a blessing from above,just read Charlton fans comments on 606 ! We need a good pacey striker up front ..who can score 15 + goals season in season out..Bents attitude,reputation and goal scoring ability is dodgy ...way past his sell by date!

So Glad we didnt sign that timewaster! £1 million was a lot for him anyway.As said above if someone would prefer to sign for Brum knowing he will spend most of his time in the dug out,just goes to show his commitment to playing! We will find the right striker with the right attitude and loyalty soon! (I hope)

I'm so glad this has fallen through this would have been a poor signing - a very inconsistent signing... Kris Boyd would be a quality signing for this division 20+ a season but that looks dead and buried. I would prefer C.Morrison to M.Bent

As a Charlton fan, I'm gutted that, for the moment at least, Bent's still on our books.

Waste of space - never really a prolific scorer, thinks he's better than he is and, most importantly he's always seen himself as a Premiership striker and regards playing in the Championship as "doing a favour" for whoever he's playing for - seriously, you're better off without him lads.

A word of warning - Morrison is cut from exactly the same cloth. An ego that his ability rarely lives up to. Yes he scores regularly for Palace, but it's always with one eye on the shop window - "when will a big club come in for me?"

Hope you get someone in who actually WANTS to play for you. It will make a hell of a difference. Good luck this season.

Well i am a bit dissapointed we didnt get him, but id rather him not come at all if his heart was'nt in it. he wasnt about scoring bags of goals for us he was suppost to be the target man. better than thompson. C.morrison would be good maybe we could put a bid in for d.riordan from celtic they got loads of strikers and get in ched evans on loan, shurley sparky will help us out!
