Joe Calzaghe v Roy Jones Jr

Light heavy
comment on the article

Joe, please, please, please do not make this your last fight. There is no credibility to be gained from beating a washed up Jones Jr. The dragon is going to be doing all the slaying here. Should be looking to fight Kelly Pavlik as his last fight, then retire, as one of Britain's all time great boxers. What you think?

Sorry I obviously have to explain myself and I'll ... try ... to ... go .... slowly .. so .. you... can .... understand.
If you read the quote which you have quoted above (IN CONTEXT), I was answering the person above. I then address you when I say 'ring rules', this means that I am about to turn myself to your argument rather surprisingly, which focused on B-Hop and JC.
Comprende? Or would you like me to explain in French or Portugese - I could have a go at both. My English A level (A) or my history 1st degree should have taught me better English.... Maybe it's just the education system in this country....

Stop it!!! Who cares??? What matters now is that JC should be fighting KP next and not RJJ

JC has so much to lose by fighting Pavlik it makes no sense for him to do it......apart from stopping some of the hilarious squabbling on this board.

I agree with all that was said by Ginger McFudpants above. The only reason why Joe Calzaghe is fighting Roy Jones Junior,in what will possibly be his final bout, is that this fight is an easy one for him, in which he will be paid very well. Jones Junior will also be paid very well.

RJJ is no longer the fantastic fighter that he once was. He has won his last three fights, but he and Felix Trinidad (another former great fighter who is no longer the great fighting machine that he once was), who fought each other in January this year, should not be allowed to fight again. But as we know, money speaks many languages.

RJJ suffered the ignominy of been knocked out in 2004, by both Antonio Tarver and Glencoffe Johnson, in consecutive light heavyweight title fights. With no disrespect, Jones Junior would have beaten both men convincingly, in his prime.

Calzaghe wants to retire with a perfect record of 46-0. in fighting RJJ, he should achieve just that. However, Jones could turn back the clock and produce one of his brilliant early career performances and shock the Welshman. But I get the feeling that Calzaghe will beat Jones, and send him into permanent retirement for good.

Calzaghe v Kelly Pavlik would be a much better fight, than Calzaghe v RJJ. But unfortunately this fight has come too late for Calzaghe, and too soon perhaps, for Pavlik.

I dont think this will be easy for JC. RJJ has been fighting at light heavy for a while now and has time to adjust to the new weight.

JC will more than likely win, and then we will be left wondering if only RJJ was a few years younger how would the fight would have went, and what RJJ could have done better if he was younger.

JC is undoutably a fantastic world class boxer, however he has no-one to blame but himself for the fact that people doupt him as one of the all time greats. Most of the all time greats have losses on their record purley because an all time great steps up and fights the best there is to fight and therefore proves himself as a great against greats! no excuses, no refusing to go away from home etc etc.
the only thing about the JC v RJJ fight is that in years to come RJJ is a massive name for JC to have on his record (as people will forget he was past it).
I understand that JC wants a big payday to retire on and clearly its easier to fight RJJ than KP, however an "All Time Great" would be more interested in fighting the best out there!

in my opinion

JC should have fought a young RJJ and BH. But it works both ways. RJJ has fought a lot of champs who were past it, like Mike Mcallum and people like that. RJJ should have JC on his resume, but chose not to have JC on it. RJJ didnt have Nigel Benn and Eubank as well. What excuses are there for it? Dont he like fighting brits?
But the KP one is still interesting. Who knows if JC will have that last fight?
