According to the Greek media Arsenal has agreed at 1.25m Euro with Panathinaikos for the transfer of Gilberto. According to the media Gilberto will fly to Greece tomorrow (16/7) between 4-5 in the afternoon to sign his new three year contract tomorrow, and a lot of Panathinaikos fans will go to the airport to welcome him.

Most certainly he will be missed as he contributed a lot over the years.

Its not official yet but he will certainly leave Arsenal to go somewhere. With Flamini already gone, Gilberto leaving soon and Hleb leaving for Barcelona most probably we've lost 3 Good players and signed only Nasri so far. With the Premier League kick off been only month away shouldnt the roster be ready by now? We need to sign at least two players i think.. I hope the Arsenal board has a few aces on their sleeves..

Maybe you haven't seen him play 'live' for the last two years!

the season before last, he had one of his best seasons for us and contributed a lot of goals

I didn't think we needed to sign a replacement for flamini definately but if gilberto goes we will have no choice.

Why do people keep going on about keeping older players when they are pass there best?

Gilberto gave his best years to arsenal and will be miss by all true arsenal fans.

But dose anyone not think if we had maybe sold him last season then The BOSS would of tied Flamini to a long term contract last season instead of letting him leave for FREE this?

And with the other players we have coming through keeping Gilberto is preventing the progression of the mass of YOUNG tallent we have in our youth and reserve squad. Players like Pennant, Bentley, Harper, Lupoli all very good young player who's path to the first team was blocked by players PASS there best.

Most GOONERS on here can remember a time when The Arsenal were not finishing in the top 4 season in season out. we were sometimes lucky to finish in the top half of the table. but are still arsenal fans to this day and will be until they are put in the ground. times change and players come and go in todays market a lot quicker than befor.

Its life things change but ARSENAL are FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If this is true I would like to say thanks to Gilberto for his magnificent contribution to Arsenal FC

I would also like to praise him for the way he handled himself last summer after the dispiciable way Wenger treated him when giving Gallas the captain's armband without informing Gilberto.

Respect to the man ok

Last season when Gilberto played it looked like his time was up.

I think Wenger is doing the right thing and its now up to Song, Diaby and Denilson to step up to the mark if they're good enough.

I personally think it will be Diaby that makes the grade but only time will tell.

All that aside, I echo the comments thanking Gilberto for his services - instrumental in the invincibles season lets not forget.
