Fowler

Championship Cardiff City
comment on the article

Is there anybody else angry about Fowler?

Now he's left there might be space to bring in a younger, better striker but he sat all season with an injury and then runs off to Blackburn. The man is a joke. I know Liverpool fans call him god but I think of a few other choice words to describe him.

Don't see the point of Ince signing him. He's way past it, good in his day but not anymore.

this is nonsense, im an arsenal fan but fowler is a legend. cardiff wanted to offer him a crappy pay as you play deal, knowing hes carrying injuries, to try to keep a great player and a talisman on the cheap. blackburn offers him games against the teams lower down the table, to give the other strikers a rest. hes past his peak but hes more than capable of doing a job against the derby counties of the premier league. he's not likely to lead the frontline for years to come, but its a nice last hoorah before they give him a coaching role. what a character to have in training! hes got a lot to offer, cardiff should have recognised that with a decent contract.

A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding. Ince has not signed Fowler, but offered him a chance to train with the squad. I imagine if he gets in shape and impresses he'll get a chance to play but Ince proved his managerial quality at MK, and I don't see him doing anything foolish. Brian Clough once pointed out that it only takes a second to score a goal and change a game. Robbie is a good dressing-room influence and a proven match-winner. That instinct never dies. If he can prove his fitness he could do the sort of job Teddy did at West Ham and Sir Les at Bolton. Good luck to him

Talbotbluebird - people like you make me sick. Why shouldn't Fowler take the chance offered to him at Blackburn. Anyone, in anywalk of walk, would do the same thing. He wants to have one last crack at the premiership, and who can blame him. He has been the best finisher england have had since Jimmy Greaves, and if he can get fit and the chances are provided, Robbie will put them away.

Cardiff are hardly blameless in all this - why not give him a two year contract last year?? And look at Risdales comments "Robbies image rights were important to us". Dont knock a true legend of the game for having the bottle not to take the easy money but to try and prove himself one last time. If you want to have a go at someone try shouting your mouth off at Kevin Phillips - bottled the premiership to go back to the championship.

It may not work out for Robbie, but at least he's having a go - injuries are part of the game - get over yourselves - you had your limelight last year, now jusr fade back into the background.

Red machine. How many one last chances can one player have.

Hes been having them for around 7 years.

What do you mean he has been having last chances for 7 years that is nonsense. Anyway I thought it would be obvious that I meant that as he is 33 this is going to be his last premiership team so he would be silly not to go for it.

Anyway he owes Cardiff nothing, they only offered him one year he worked his contract now he is free to do what he wants. If Cardiff wanted him they should have offered him 2 years like JFH and we all know how Cardiff shafted him...

Robbie was injured for a few months, had no contract and has decided to join Blacburn on a pre season tour while they assess his fitness. If you really want to know what a leach is then look at Harry Kewell at Liverpool, injured for virtually five years, treated by every specialist in the world and received £70k a week wages. His contract was up and he was offered a new one on lower wages in view of the last five years, he declined and left to join Galatasary on a free transfer. Liverpool lost millions on this leach, so in comparison, Robbie is still very much a God.

Sorry - inconsistency.

You can't praise Fowler to the hilt and then criticise Kewell for doing essentially the same thing.

Either they're all leeches or they're injured and that's life (I take the latter view).

So the issue is that an out of contract player picked contract A over contract B, when contract A was clearly better (possible Premier League vs Pay as you Play)?

I don't understand all the hostility. Surely we'd all have done the same?
