jimmykinski (U10099118) posted Jul 12, 2008 this is nonsense, im an arsenal fan but fowler is a legend. cardiff wanted to offer him a crappy pay as you play deal, knowing hes carrying injuries, to try to keep a great player and a talisman on the cheap. blackburn offers him games against the teams lower down the table, to give the other strikers a rest. hes past his peak but hes more than capable of doing a job against the derby counties of the premier league. he's not likely to lead the frontline for years to come, but its a nice last hoorah before they give him a coaching role. what a character to have in training! hes got a lot to offer, cardiff should have recognised that with a decent contract.

Slimboyslim (U6740933) posted Jul 13, 2008 A lot of people seem to be misunderstanding. Ince has not signed Fowler, but offered him a chance to train with the squad. I imagine if he gets in shape and impresses he'll get a chance to play but Ince proved his managerial quality at MK, and I don't see him doing anything foolish. Brian Clough once pointed out that it only takes a second to score a goal and change a game. Robbie is a good dressing-room influence and a proven match-winner. That instinct never dies. If he can prove his fitness he could do the sort of job Teddy did at West Ham and Sir Les at Bolton. Good luck to him

norfolknscouse (U12381367) posted Jul 14, 2008 Talbotbluebird - people like you make me sick. Why shouldn't Fowler take the chance offered to him at Blackburn. Anyone, in anywalk of walk, would do the same thing. He wants to have one last crack at the premiership, and who can blame him. He has been the best finisher england have had since Jimmy Greaves, and if he can get fit and the chances are provided, Robbie will put them away.

MikeArms (U12644372) posted Jul 14, 2008 Robbie was injured for a few months, had no contract and has decided to join Blacburn on a pre season tour while they assess his fitness. If you really want to know what a leach is then look at Harry Kewell at Liverpool, injured for virtually five years, treated by every specialist in the world and received £70k a week wages. His contract was up and he was offered a new one on lower wages in view of the last five years, he declined and left to join Galatasary on a free transfer. Liverpool lost millions on this leach, so in comparison, Robbie is still very much a God.

FortressFratton (U12676712) posted Jul 16, 2008 So the issue is that an out of contract player picked contract A over contract B, when contract A was clearly better (possible Premier League vs Pay as you Play)? Comment on this article |
