Intertoto 2nd leg v Elfsborg

Intertoto Cup Hibernian

After an unfit, uninterested and uninspiring performance last Sunday we go to Sweden with only a slight hope of going through to the next round.

I've decided to rate the performances last Sunday and select a preferred team for the 2nd leg, ratings are out of 10:

Makalambay - 5 - Always hear a mass intake of breath from the fans when a cross comes in, too slow in distribution.

Hanlon - 5 - Fairly anonymous, plenty time on his side.

Hogg - 6 - First choice everytime.

Jones - 4 - Suffering from a severe lack of confidence and competence.

Van Zanten - 5 - Fairly solid and offered support further up the pitch.

Rankin - 5 - Started well enough, can pass a ball but will never change a game.

Murray - 6 - Few biting challenges but no real influence in the midfield.

Shiels - 7 - Always going forward, can make the difference in Sweden.

Kerr - 3 - Could go lower, a complete coward.

Morais - 4 - Very poor, had the chance to swing in crosses but preferred to turn onto his weaker foot and lose the ball.

Fletcher - 6 - Fighting a losing battle by himself.

Jones/Canning (all we have)
McCann

Stevenson
Murray
Shiels
Morais (we've got nothing better while Zuma is out)

Fletcher
Nish (only because Fletch needs support)

Any disagreements fire in. (Apart from the assessment of Brian Kerr which is 100% spot on, and I didn't even cheer when he was subbed)

adding to my previous comment would mixu stop making same excuses its getting very boring now. Also fletcher is a garantee to leave in this transfer and we will not sign anyone of quality. Read fletch comment in news and can see he is at the end with hibs.

To 1Wattie - thankfully there will be worse teams than Hibs in the usual 'OF and the rest diddy league' so don't fret. Hibs ain't gonna win the SPL anyway. The usual boring OF competition will prevail. What's interesting is whether Hibs board is fully backing Mixu Paatelainen - I've got a hunch Hibs management are concentrating more on the forthcoming ER Stadium improvements. We'll see in the coming months.

Why are people so disapointed with Hibs failure in the Intertoto Cup? Too many fans are giving the players a hard time. If you think about how Hibs hav'nt played a competitive football match sence the end of last season and Elfsborg are well into their leage campaign, lighing 2nd in the league without losing a game, then we have to be a clear underdog goin into the game. Hibs are a great team but surly can't be expected of thing thats are out of there reach? We will bounce back next season.
