What's happened?

Championship Norwich City
comment on the article

If Cullum has had a meeting with Delia than why hasn't there been any news from it? and why is he talking to Delia when he has said that he wants to keep her as "the figurehead"? or have I missed some crucial points?

norfolknscouse - you really didn't much thought in to that post did you !?!?! Marcus Evans is an Ipswich Town supporter always has been...

what are you going on about ? He is looking at the long term of the club and has goals. He is a good businessman and the club is being run really well properly. It's only time that things will change on the pitch and hopefullt this season.

sour grapes ?

Fiver76 - not sour grapes at all mate - I'm actually a Liverpool supporter and season ticket holder. I've watched Norwich since moving down here in the late 80's, and had a season ticket at carrow Road too for 7 years until it became too expensive to have both.

The point I was trying to make was more to Norwich fans than Ipswich fans to be honest, in that it seems from an outsiders point of view (admittedly I dont have all the facts, its just an opinion) the Ipswich deal was rushed through and grabbed without too much thought long-term. A bit like Leeds if you like - suddenly this fan appears splashing the cash like its going out of fashion, taking over all the whole club and their identity, even putting his name on the shirts. It all just seems a bit fly-by-night if you like.

As you quite rightly say, time will tell if the Ipswich investment proves to be good business or not.

norfolknscouse

the deal was negotiated for months.... there were plenty of other offers, sullivan and gold spring to mind and some foreign investors too...

so where you think it was rushed I do not know....

Surely the Norwich deal is not dead yet... if it is it's good advertising for another buyer to come in and negotiate a deal....

I cannot tell you how happy I was than an English Ipswich Town fan came in to invest in the future of my football club....

Not that many fans appreciate this, but it really feels right for the club and town....

Like you say, results on the pitch is what counts to make it good business... In my opinion, premiership here we come !

fiver76 - I stand corrected, as i said it was an opinion and I'm sure you know more than I do about ITFC. and you're right, the norwich deal is only round one of months of negotiating.

As a football fan (yes id always favour NCFC over ITFC but there you go) if it happens for you then the best of luck.

I dont honestly see you getting into the premiership this year, but then again you didnt say that in your post either. I'm not sure Magilton has the managerial awareness and tactical ability to get you up, I think he'll get one crack at it and then be gone next summer. But a club your size, with the support it has, and the money it now has, will i'm sure challenge in years to come.

Best of luck.

I was waiting for the burn a hole in our pocket boys to show up. I'm just waiting for the "we've got more money than you" comments to pop up so I can safely reply "we still have more fans than you"

Fiver76 I'll see if I can still find that picture of Marcus Evans in the Barclay stand wearing a Norwich shirt!

Sour grapes? Indeed, like I said above your offering £2-3 million for Greek Strikers while we're putting in £300,000 for Blackpool wingers.

akaTimcroks, I think that undervalues Doherty to be honest lol ;o)
I'm sure theres a few who would argue we should pay someone that to take him, but then he has been like Marmite, we either love him or hate him.

OTBC!

After the financial events at Liverpool and Manchester United Norwich City Football Club is fortunate to be controlled by time served fans in the form of its existing directors. The Arsenal model of ownership and management, spend according to your means, has not prevented great football in a great stadium. £20m to gain control of a club reported to be worth three times that sum always had the hallmarks of bargain basement shopping for a great club with a good future under the control of its existing directors.

as doncaster said there are rules that goven the take over... so if he really wants control the 56 million figure was what it would take to gain control and still spend the 20 million he wanted on players, norwich is a club thats incredibly well run and does function as a bussiness, i think all fans would welcome new investment but not at the cost of our long term future.

The existing Norwich board are seemingly happy to be the "also ran's,the feather weights, the kid that simply makes up the numbers in the school ground football match. They are unambitious and pedestrian.who wants to be owned by such an unimaginative collective. Indeed who wants to maintain the status quo and continue to have someone like your aging and hard of hearing grand mother fronting the brand. It is preposterous. Get them out!
