Trezeguet calls time on France career

comment on the article
David Trezeguet

France striker David Trezeguet has announced his retirement from international football, blaming his decision on coach Raymond Domenech.

Despite a poor perfomance in Austria and Switzerland the French Football Federation have decided to stick with Domenech - a decision that hasn't gone down well with the Juventus striker.

Do you think it was a mistake leaving Trezeguet at home for the Euro's and will he be missed by France?

Honestly how dumb are the French for allowing this dunce takeover the French squad again? 18 of the 19 panelists decided he should keep his job. WERE THEY NOT WATCHING THE EUROS?! No wonder Cantona hates his own country's football federation, their all brainless (bar that one panelist).

True that, but even a dodo knows the guys no good, u dont even need brainswinkeye

"Anelka constantly hasn't made the grade for France, he didn't do anything amazing for Chelsea even before the move, this season for Bolton!"

--------------

At Christmas 2007, Anelka was 3rd top scorer in the Premier League for the season. He was doing much, much better than the rest of Frances strikers around Europe.

it was definitely a mistake and it showed, and i think domenech take all the blame on the euros, firstly for his squad selection, secondly for his poor tactics.david will and already have been missed, and i don't know what sane man could think of keeping this man on the head of the staff.

I never said Gomis is better Trezeguet. If you actually read the WHOLE of my last post, I said that France should of had a 2 experienced, 2 inexperienced. Henry, TREZEGUET, Gomis, and Benzema!

OMG! Dude, if you actually bothered to read it all, you woulda known!

Anyone who calls a 1 in 2 striker at International level a horrible player is clearly deluded.

"I see football differently from the way they see it in France. The Euros were very negative, but what bothered me most was Domenech's confirmation."

Sorry Trezeguet, although you are Argentinian you chose to play for France. Unfortunately it left a bitter after taste. Had you played for Argentina, like Messi, that would give you the ultimate satisfaction and pride a footballer can get.

Except that France have won the World Cup and European Championships since Argentina won anything.. And it was Trezeguet who scored the golden goal in Euro 2000. He was right to play for France! Allez les Bleus!

It is a shame his international career has ended like this but by the next tournament he will not be selected anyway.

Trezeguet's humiliation at the hands of Domenech was foolish and it has cost the nation a great player playing his peak game.

Merci Trezeguet - toujours un bleu.ok

Beantown Fan - Ok fair enough you didnt say Gomis was better than Trezeguet but you did say how can Gomis not be good enough to replace Trezeguet and based that opinion on him scoring two good goals against Ecuador which is a bit silly.

I now see how it could have been perceived, but I simply meant the French media saw it more like Gomis took Cisse's place (which like I aforementioned), and Anelka had taken Trezeguet's.

Why does Gomis' place in the squad have to be the one sacrificed to have made way for Trezeguet, why couldn't Anelka's? SERIOUSLY, what has he done?
