Pursley handed top British job

comment on the article

British Swimming has pulled off a coup by landing former American national team head coach Dennis Pursley as the new National Head Coach.

When he was National Team Director of USA Swimming, the American men's and women's teams topped the medals tables at three successive Olympic Games.

He will start his new job in October, and will be working towards the 2012 London Olympics. So what do you think he can do for and with Britain's swimmers?

I am not sure that a team director has much to do with the actual coaching. His job seemed to be making sure things are in order, arranging schedules and general policies.
We messed things up getting too nasty with our last coach who was a hands-on coach, not a desk and managing type.
Mind you the way Suzzie O'neal and recently Thorpe, got away with positive drug tests makes you lose all faith in 'good' coaches which means successful evasion of detection or managing an escept when caught. The American and Australian Swimmming Associations are the biggest frauds and hypocrytes like their athletics counterparts until recently.

To think that Thorpe is now considered an Olympic movement ambassador and Suzie is already in it and both making those 'holier than thou statements.'

They did not and don't fool me.
