Wales and England 2015 disaster waiting to happen?

Few of you would disagree that the rugby rivalry between England and Wales has to rate at the top end of the scale of world rugby rivalries, the question then remains can these two passionate rugby nations put down there weapons and commence a “group hug” in order to host a viable Rugby World championships in 2015?

The short answer is no! The whole idea is one born of stupidity, firstly there is no need, both Wales and England are perfectly capable of hosting the competition by themselves? Shared competitions in the past have only served to water down the whole event, hosting nations run the possibility of having games played away from home, what’s the point? (although I except it did France no harm last time around).

I understand how the world works and if England and Wales placing a shared bid is more financially beneficial than hosting separately then ok, but if not why? If your going to place it in Britain place it in one nation place it in Wales, place it in England or even Scotland let that nation show what it can do, let that Nation gain the coffers and delight its home fans……….don’t water down an event that could be the sporting highlight of so many home fans lives………..

Porridge, I have plenty of respect for other cultures, actually. ok But to say that you need money to "bless" a river is not really culture is it ? It's more like making money with menaces, just like Halloween ok

Not sure of what instance your are talking about. But you are certainly showing a certain amount of disrespect towards Maori views on their spiritual land.
Suppose that is to be expected from someone from your country given it's histroy down throught the years.

Disrespect my backside. To get respect, you've got to earn it. That's just what it is, their views. Their spiritual land is where they actually came from in their waka's ok

You can now add selfrightousness to your bag of tricks there Nottins...

Your attitude is no real surprise given that it's synonymous with the culture and society of which you belong.

As the saying goes notty...

You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

That is why people see right through your 'New Zealand could not cope with the Lions Tour line'.
What you really need to say is my teams - England/Lions - keep getting stuffed by these guys therefore I dislike everything about them.

OK, just for the record, I'm Irish, live in Scotland and have traveled to NZ and love the country.
I was surprised when I learned that NZ had been granted the 2011 RWC because I believed it was time for rugby to go global.
I wouldn't imagine that NZ could cope with the influx of people you get for an occasion like RWC. A friend who went on the Lions tour a couple of years said they had trouble finding decent accommodation (not something I found myself on my student travels) and generally getting around the country.
The Kiwi's passion for rugby may be big enough to overcome this and I hope it's a great competition which I haven't ruled out attending as yet.
I can't believe that real rugby supporters are as selfish as some of the comments on here are implying.
England and Wales as hosts - again! Surely not. With Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and possibly a Footy World Cup in the next ten years does the UK really need another major sporting event?
It has to go to Japan as a developing rugby nation. They have a great passion for all sport and would surely turn up in droves as they did at the football world cup.
It would send a signal that RWC is prepared to embrace the lower ranked nations rather than favouring the big boys.
In UK and Ireland rugby still has a reputation with some people that is an exclusive 'rich mans' game.
So will RWC 2011 go to Japan and show how fair the IRFU can be- NOT A CHANCE!

Firstly, Wales does not have the ability to host a World Cup on its own. Only the MS and possibly the new Cardiff City ground meet the capacity requirements for RWC.

RWC 2011 was not only awarded to a country that for all its on-field pedigree does not have the infrastructure to cope with RWC and will not give the IRB the financial returns it needs to fund and develop the world game.

The 2015 tournament had to go to ENgland or someone like them because they need to make up the financial shortfall from 2011.
