Should Mr Lenagan appologise?

Super League Wigan
comment on the article

Upon signing George Carmont earlier this season, the owner of our club stated that the afore mentioned was a cheap acquisition to our squad- or words to that effect. Quite frankly, in my eyes he's been the best signing we have made in years. I personally think that it was direspectful of Mr Lenagan to use such terminology. Would anyone agree? If this is a cheap signing, might I suggest we make another 12!!!!!

Is he 'cheap' in the same way Radlinski was 'free'?

He is good in attack but his defence is awful. In every game that he plays he seems to let in soft tries due to always being out of position and an inabilty to tackle. I have yet to see him play in a game where he hasnt messed up to let in at least one try. However with those cherry and white glasses Wigan fans seem to ignore how bad he is in defence.

Reserve judgement until he has played a few more games.
For me he is still a bad signing; I'm just sick of seeing all those Aussies, Kiwis, SS Islanders in our teams; they're doing the English game no good at all.

This isn't about whether he is doing our game any good, it's whether he has played well for us this year or not..... which he has.

Just how many games have you watched him in StPryce? I'm assuming you're a Saints fan and so would only have watched him vs Saints and when Wigan play on TV (not sure how often that has happenend, would rely on us not playing at the same time as Leeds or Saints).
He's been pretty solid in defence this year, he tackles well and also creates space in attack.
He's the sort of player we needed. Vaealiki was an expensive failure...Carmont is a reliable and steady player on a small contract.

He gives us enough time to see our other young centres develop, we couldn't really afford 2 young centres in the side at once.
Maybe in 2 or 3 years he'll have done his job and one of the youngsters will replace him...possibly Stefan Marsh, he seems to be a promising young talent.

I'm not saying StPryce is right or wrong but if you think that the only way to form such an opinion would be to either (a) watch Wigan when they are partaking in one of the live broadcasts on Sky or (b) attend their matches when that is not the case then I think you are wrong.

With BootsnAll, SLS and the Super League round up at 9:30pm on Sky News every Sunday night, there has never been as much indepth analysis of each round of Super League available to even the most ardent armchair supporter.

StPryce never has to move two feet from in front of the old google box to have been provided with enough information to form the opinion he has.

However, whether that opinion is deemed by the majority to be accurate is another matter.

His defence is rubbish, anyone can see that. I have seen all the tries from Wigan games this season and for the last 2 months I have seen him concede tries week in, week out through bad defence. Last week there was a shocking mistake against Leeds when he got sucked in by McGuire last week. The week before against Harlequins again he messed up for 2 tries. The same can be said against Catalan when they ripped him and Richards apart. Indeed when Wigan played Saints at Millenium Magic Gidley beat him time and again. That is just off the top of my head, need I go on? As I said he is good in attack but his defence leave a lot to be desired.

But StPryce, it doesn't mean his defence is rubbish just because very good players go past him. How many other backs have McGuire and Gidley stepped past this season?

And I still think that the ONLY antipodeans that should appear in Superleague are players like Gidley, Barrett etc. If they canīt get a regular start in NRL they don't belong here!
