Graham Napier does it again and again!

Twenty20 Essex

After hitting 61 off 34 balls in the 50-over semi-final and that stunning 16 sixes for 150+ runs this guy has got it to be a top England one-day player. Tonight again in front of the sky cameras he hit 40 off 20 balls coming in late on in the innings against one of the best twenty20 bowlers and hitting a mere 3 sixes.

So with this batting you wonder is he capable of playing for England in all forms, I don't know about his 4-day cricket as I don't follow Essex, but in Twenty20 and the semi he looks like a superstar in the making. So can he come in as a batsmen? No is the answer because that would waste his other talent - bowling!

I have always known Napier as a bowler for some reason and his batting has completely blitz it recently but tonight in this quarter final he has taken 3 wickets for just 1 run in his first 2 overs in the powerplay!

Can he continue this form, as if he does he will be in England's team soon possibly in place of his county mate - Bopara, Napier hits the ball so sweetly and does not slog, they are amazing shots, he could be the next Freddie if he continues this hitting and bowls consistently well in all forms he could find himself straight into the Standford game.

Should he be in the twenty20 squad now after 3 consistent performances in front of the cameras? Maybe you feel he should be in the ODI starting 11? And well the main question is could he one day be another Flintoff type player or will he be a Paul Collingwood who waited so long to get into the test squad? your thoughts??

Surely Graham Napier, all be it in a very short timeframe, has played his way into the ICC Champions Trophey Squad??

Any man who hits hit that well, that hard and still keeps his bat straight has got to be in the mixer!? Added to 88mph+ bowling... Another Freddie perhaps???

Dont you think OP that you are gettin carried away? He has played 3 great knocks, but all at Chelmsford, and all on SKY, now all of a sudden England? Behave.

150 one day games averaging 16.84 shows how good he really is?

"Ultimately, I think

Shah
Bell
KP
Bopara
Colly
Wright

is, something /like/ the best top ODI six in England, and rather than breaking them up every time the lose, we should stick with them for a while and hope they improve."

It may be "the best top 6" but there are no specialist openers in there. I assume you want Bell to open (he is certainly no specialist), but with whom?

"Another Freddie perhaps?"

No

Genesis - I prefer Bell and Shah opening. But it's another shuffle. Stick with Wright and Bell for SA, if only to prove Wright can't open.

Why Shah? I'd say that his talents are far better used down the order when he can manipulate the field and hit it in strange areas. By down the order I mean outside the powerplays.

I'd like to see Shah play in the powerplays. Maybe I'm wrong.

He opens for Middlesex in OD cricket and he seems to score quicker than most.

Plus I feel his performances down at six were largely lucky against NZ. He batted well, but took huge risks.

He's clearly a better batsman than Wright, and probably Collingwood and Bell.

So why leave him down the order?

I feel if he bats at six, we are wasting a talent, and we don't have that much talent.

Seems like many respected pundits are starting to agree with me Silk.......plenty of talent coming through that deserves a chance in the side.

quick question?

why are england playing swann in one day games when we have a talented spinner like monty? he is(admittedly slowly) improving his fielding, and with my batting order he would only bat with a major collapse. besides, murali knows he can slog a bit doesnt he?

I hope they give napes a go. But sadly feel this won't happen. He has played amazingly well this season and I will never forget his 152.
