Well from those clips he has performed better in attack for SKorea and PSV than he has for us. Perhaps he was told to concentrate on defence.

"Comfortbale on the left" - a Freudian slip?

Didn't we sign LYP because of his attacking tendencies for South Korea and PSV? If he's not good going forward, that's why he's not figuring in JR's plans.

excuse the typo lol

perhaps thats the case. i dont think hes bad going forward, but maybe the management not wanting him to attack so much made him lose his confidence in doing so? so when he did attack, it wasnt all that great?

anywho, looks like hes definately going, and i wish him all the best.

i think the reason LYP got replaced by "shimbombar" is that "shimbombar" offers more heading ability when we defend and attack

I've just watched the first video and I've got to say that, for a you-tube compilation, there was nothing very impressive in the whole thing! The bit where he beat two Man U players is pretty good.

He's an honest player, sensible in his positional play and closing down. But to not have a left foot at all when you play left-back - that's got to be one of modern football's greatest mysteries. Why doesn't he EVER use his left foot? and WHY is he a left-back?

He's no Dean Austin and I wouldn't panic if I saw him in a starting 11 but we need (and now have) better. He just offers nothing going forward and is one-footedness is a disgrace for a professional, international player.

Not one of the players that I feel we MUST sell (Hello Kevin-Prince, Ricardo Rocha et al). Hope he goes to PSV (or somewhere) and does well there.

but being right footed, hes going to do that isnt he? its a shame hes not comfortable playing at RB, as hes ben excellent there. ive never understood how a right footed player can be more comfortbale playing on the left.

.............................................

Ginola seemed more comfortable on the left even though he used to switch from time to time during the game. Mind you, saying that, Ginola was a one off!

qualities for a left back:

1 - defend
2 - can use left foot.

he has neither. he looks like he is busy buts thats only cos his legs are so small. maybe a cover for RB at absolute best but even then rest of defence would have to bail him out...

if we want to progress to a higher level then really he shouldn't play for us again

Ive always had a soft spot for YPL....never gives less than 100%

Actually saw some promise in the bale / ypl partnership down the left flank last season as ypl is great on the overlap with bale being able to cover for him when he does go forward.....it generally ended in disapointment though because YPL's biggest weakness is his crossing ability and the entirely predictable

a) check onto the right foot before an inswinger into the keepers hands

b) left footed cross swing wide and behind the goal!
