NO NEW SIGNING'S STILL WOULD WIN SPL

Scottish Premier Celtic
comment on the article

None of the players that we have been linked to and are realistic have excited me, but no matter the players who excite me for next season already at the club.

Scott Brown watch him go next season,

Barry Robson what a bonus he is

Mcgeady has improved every season if he improves again this season...

Caddis what a prospect

Cillian sheridan . . . young chris sutton

Naka will feel has something to prove

Holy Goalie still here

BIG MICK WILL ALSO GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH - Think burley will make him skipper this season or next

3 international forwards signed.

How many of them will play?

How many international forwards does that make now? I make it 7 or 8. OK Novo's never played for Espain

Will Wattie ever play the only one of them (Boyd) who is any good?

Will Wattie ever play more than 1 of them at a time?

DELUDED

thats the word that comes to mind wen reading some of the comments here.

I am sorry but if i could be bothered scrolling through articles from 3 months ago im sure i would find many upon many saying how bad ur team was.....strachan needed to be sacked....and u needed top quality players

just because rangers were on their knees at the end of the season and u managed to scrape to victory does that all of a sudden make ur team world beaters not needing any signings???

wait and i'll go through it for u (and i cud do this quite as easily with rangers team aswell)

henkel - terrible
mcmanus - poor and far too slow
caldwell - shud take broadfoot down the park with him n play down there
naylor - after being good at first is poor. too slow and all one foot

brown - waste of money
nakamura - most overrated player possibly in britian

JVOH - utter garbage
Mcdonald - will need to show that he can continue the form shown in first half of season as 2nd half was poor)

NEED I GO ON? OR NO SIGNINGS NEEDED?

No new signings would be disappointing as we probably wouldn't progress much on this season, but we still have a stronger squad than the 'Gers. Unrest will settle in with the amount of forwards they have, even if Waltie plays them out of position (Naismith pre-injury is a class example! A great finisher playing wide left LMAO!) Let's be fair, Rangers haven't made any big signings!

Regarding our players leaving:

Boruc- Best Goalkeeper in Europe, PERIOD! Nobody better at the moment, and if McGregor is worth *COUGH* £10m! Then Boruc's tag of £15m+ is easily justified, even Milan have pulled out as they aren't willing to spend that much on a GK, even one of Boruc's quality.

McGeady- Celtic Bhoy through and through, no need to leave, enjoying his football and still improving, first choice for ROI under Trappatoni no doubt!

Nakamura- Lost something post-injury, but would still walk into the Rangers team!

McDonald- Only Kris Boyd can challenge him for Golden Boot, and he never plays so 'Skippy' is a safe bet for the Golden Boot again.

All you have to do is look at the Celtic squad and it shines with more quality than the 'Gers squad.

Saying all that I still think a couple of additions are needed, and I still reckon it'll be a close one before we seal 4-I-A-R!!!

Hail! Hail!

Paradise what is it that suggests Celtic have a stronger squad? Do people keep glossing over the fact that the league was won (or lost) by a mere 3 points, hardly suggests any real difference between the teams, especially when you consider the workload at the end of the season (I'm not going to say Rangers would have won the league had it been less busy in the last few weeks, but the chances of them finding another 3 or 4 points would surely be higher if they hadn't played a game 2 days before and another 2 days before that and ano...

Boruc is not the best keeper in Europe, he's in the top ten at least but stop kidding yourself on, there are better keepers. The fact Milan wont pay the asking price could just as easily signify that he simply isn't worth it. He's very good, better than McGregor but I'm really not sure he's worth much more saves than McGregor in the SPL

Naka would definitely walk into the Rangers team...coz there's no way the lazy bar steward would run. He's a luxury like Kris Boyd, play him and you will have a few moments of brilliance and a chance at goals but you're effectively playing with 10 men for 70 minutes.

It will be a tight run race again this season in my opinion but at the same time I'd still expect spending from both sides before the transfer window shuts, probable another 4-5m for both if recent seasons are anything to go by and those signings could be the ones that change the destination of the title. (Though probably not if it's Boateng who has been linked with both teams)

Lochee "Gow, Broadfoot, Laugherty" well done, you've picked a guy that never plays, a guy that is recognised by all as our worst player and a new signing. The Celtic equivalent could be, "Riordan, Killen, McCourt" Hardly sums up Celtic does it? So why use those 3 for Rangers? "Pathetic?"

I think we can win the league with the same team, and the younger ones coming through. but i think we need the new signings for the champs league. comparing teams on paper at the min

Boruc is better than Mc greg
Mick is slow yes but still rather have him than weir, ugly betty has to play well again this season, i think we need to play bobo ahead of caldwell.

LB and RB, rangers have broadfoot need i say more, id prefer the awful naylor ahead of kirk, we will also have caddis playing alot more next season.

Midfield - on paper our midfeild is miles better than the gers, we have alot of quailty with naka, mc geady, the beard still has a year or 2 of good football, robson is brillant, pat mc court as fellow derry man with defs have wat it takes, and we still have brown, and a few others. compared to baza, who we have seen the best off, thompson who is average, daily OTH, mc culloch average, laverty i think was a risky signing big enuff money and mark my words now, he wont be better than mc court who was a steal at 200k. on the rangers plus side - if the strikers get it together you have a few ok to good players there, our only threat up front is skippy, JVOH drifts in and out of a season far to much, and killen is brutal as is samaras, hutchinson im not to sure bout havent seen enuff of him. i would expect alot of our goals next season to come from midfield

Bamber:
Firstly, I certainly didn't attempt to be disrespectful with any of my comment, not sure if you've taken it that way, but if you have I do apologise, merely my opinion(s).

With regards to the League being won by a small margin of 3pts, I won't say we were the best all season, but there again the Champions in any country are rarely the better team over the full duration whether it be a match or season. But over the final few weeks Celtic had by far more about them, they wanted it more, which some can put down to too many games, we had the same issue when we went to Seville, i'll agree with the amount of games being a factor, but at the same time the players know that if they want to be successful then they have to play more games, and tough ones at that (note AC Milan nudging us out by a Kaka goal in extra time!).

I don't think Rangers have improved their squad, i'm delighted they got Lafferty, it means we didn't, and the price quoted for that lad was ridiculous, he's not got a good goal:game ratio, nor is he as talented as people make out (for once I'll disagree with a comment Owen Coyle makes). He could turn out to be a blinder of a signing, but IMO it's more hope than certainty.

Miller, works his socks off, of that there's no doubt, but Celtic have a better player in McDonald, who works as hard as Miller (2 of the hardest working players i've ever seen, no matter who they play for), the difference being that McDonald knows what the goal looks like!

Personally, Boruc is the best Keeper in Europe IMO, who is in better form at the moment. Reardless of the amount of goals he conceded at the Euro's (no offense but Poland were awful!), he consistantly pulls out great saves, and to be honest I doubt there is a team in Europe that wouldn't have him on their books, he's on a par with Casillas, who has not been the same player these last ocuple of years, even with Cannavaro, Ramos et al in front of him. Who else can match up? Cech? Not the same since the head injury, and Reina, over-rated by far!

The comments regarding Nakamura, on reflection, I'm inclined to agree with this, but only this season, his first year there was no doubt he was head and shoulders above the rest. Injury free Naka is a quality player, touch wood he'll prove me right this season, but there again we all remember the screamer he put past the 'Gers don't we?

I sincerley hope neither Celtic or Rangers sign Boatang (thanks Hull, saving us the effort by the looks of it) or Shittu (the name says it all). Neither side should have Championship players, we're the 2 teams representing an entire nation in Europe (saw the Hibees result yest, WTF!?) and we need to show we can hang with the best by signing the best (that means buck up your ideas Donati!).

I agree there will be signings from the OF before the window shuts, and indeed they probably will decide the title.

Here's to another exciting 2-team race for the SPL, may the best team win.

***McCourt can't surely be judged yet, not even worns the shorts and socks and he's being critisised, though I am indeed sceptical, I'll give him his chance. Though Killen is pish and Riordan just needs to play!!!***

"Cillian sheridan . . . young chris sutton"

As much as I hate to say this Sheridan's never going to make it at Celtic and to compare him to the legend that is Chris Sutton is madness.

Paradise, I read at the end of your previous post that you thought it would be a close race before you won it so I kindof seen that you were being objective but I just thought all the stuff prior to it made it sound like you thought otherwise, Celtic were miles ahead and would have the league sewn up as soon as possible.

Boruc is obviously in great form just now and being the Poland keeper you expect him to lose some goals (Come on, their first choice Centre back has less talent than Broadfoot and just runs about booting everyone) but I just think who would I rather have in my team right now and the likes of Van Der Sar, Buffon, Cech and Casillas are ahead of him, maybe even keepers like Stekelenburg of Ajax or Akinfeev of Moscow and actually on his Premiership form last season David James must currently be up there, although his past play would put me off and Boruc would probably get in ahead of him. Plenty of teams would love to swap their keeper for Boruc but I think there's a good few keepers they'd rather have over him.

I agree that Rangers 3 signings possibly haven't improved them much if at all, but they're different types of players from what we already have and could potentially bring something else out of our existing players, for example I think Velicka likes to run on to the ball, it may be that Thomson or Barry are better at playing those types of ball than the current straight to feet of Boyd or out wide to Darcheville. I certainly don't think we've been weakened although depending on the first 11 you have to lose something for everything you gain, unless you sign a top class all rounder, which I don't think any of the 3 signings are.

I think there's a lot of talent in our squad that has simply been hidden behind the 4-5-1 and defensive tactics- Beasley is as dangerous a winger as anyone, he might not do as many tricks but he has pace to burn and can beat anyone and I expect with the number of forwards we have (although I still think Cousin will leave and possibly Darcheville also) I really don't expect the same tactics as last season, despite them being quite successful.

If Naka is fully fit he is obviously an exceptional player, but at the same time I think a lot of people forget (or don't want to remember) what a powerful player a fully fit, on form Barry Ferguson is (as distant a memory as it may be) I think there's as much chance of us seeing that from Ferguson again next season as there is of us seeing a top form Naka, and sadly, for me at least that's very little chance.

You're spot on with your evaluation of those 3 players, that was the point, Gow, like Riordan, is actually a decent player, just doesn't get a chance. Broadfoot, like Killen is a player everyone thinks is pish (was surprised to see Killen actually played almost 30 league games for Celtic last season) and Lafferty, like McCourt surely can't be judged yet. Lochee was using the 3 Gers in a "Look how bad the Gers are" way but he chose 3 players who really don't sum up the Gers at all.

May the best team win... as long as it's Rangers
