Live - Intertoto Cup: Hibs v Elfsborg

Hibernian
comment on the article

Hibs are back in Europe again! Well, almost!

They have a chance of progressing to the next qualifying round of the Intertoto Cup and then, fingers crossed, the first round proper of the Uefa Cup.

Last time they played in Europe's second club competition was in September 2005, although they didn't fare too well. Ukrainian's Dnipro thrashed them 5-1 on aggregate despite the Edinburgh side holding them to a goalless draw in the first leg at home.

The Swedes will provide a stern test for Hibs. Currently lying second in their league, they were champions in 2006. They lost to Spanish cracks Valencia in the Champions League qualifiers last season and played in the group stages of the Uefa Cup.

How do you reckon Mixu Paatelainen's Leith boys will fare?

Hibs got what they deserved. They sat back and allowed The Swedes to come onto them. Then after a poor Hibs corner they ran down and punished us. Back to the training ground Mixu.

Not a good start. And with Barca,Middlesbough and Wigan still to come it could be a long season before it even starts.

Looks like we will both be a load of rubbish this year.
Now the argument is who is going to be the biggest.
Wee load of rubbish or big load of rubbish

I agree Hibs cant afford to concede any goals away however after watching them on Saturday however it is unlikely with lack of fitness and no dig about them. Mixu needs to make a at least 3 decent siginings. Van Zanten doesnt look like the answer. Missing the wee Morcoccon in midfield.

Hibs haven`t made 3 decent signings in the past 3 seasons so theres no chance of us doing it in 3 weeks. We (the board) have consistantly allowed our best players to leave without replacing them and now it looks like being another nothing season. They couldn`t manage to give Chris Killen a decent wage to keep him and throughout the 40 odd years I`ve supported Hibs they have been governed by the amount of cash the sale of players can bring in. Sad to say we will still see more leaving before the start of the season and Hibs will be back among the also rans of Scottish football

I've got my fingers crossed that Hibs give a good account of themselves no matter the result. This would give us hope of things to come. Come on the cabbage and ribs!
