European Open

comment on the article

England's Ross Fisher continues to impress and followed his opening round course record in the European Open with a 68 to take a one-shot lead on 13 under.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/gol...

Can Fisher maintain the high standards he set in the first two rounds and claim the title?

Sergio Garcia looks to be warming up for the Open Championship quite nicely and leapt into contention at The London Club with a second round 64. What did you make of the Spaniard's performance? Can he triumph in Kent and at Birkdale?

Meanwhile, Darren Clarke's hopes of playing in the Open took a blow when he missed the cut and was then disqualified.

Clarke signed for a four on the last instead of a five and must now finish in the top five at the Scottish Open if he is to qualify for the Open Championship at Birkdale.

As ever, we would love to hear your thoughts on today's action.

What about Monty's tantrum! After putting a drive in the water Monty was about to play when a camera man passed a good distance away. He then said
" Have you got a problem?"
Camera man "No"
Monty "Good. You're here because of me, remember that"
Sorry Monty but your an idiot at times.

Kentish i couldn't agree more. Monty at the moment has delusions of adequacy. Even Ian Poulter was getting fed up with him and gesticulated to his caddie that he was always giving it the biggun.

I thought Wayne Riley's comment about someone dropping 20p in Charring Cross would have been heard by the irritable Monty.

That said I do hope he makes the Ryder cup side as he lives for the Ryder cup and it brings out the best in him. If all the majors were called the ryder cup he may have won some by now smiley

Monty is playing some good golf just now and he knows it, it's not all coming together but it's close.

Tee to green he's as good as anyone on his day, it's the putter that will win or lose him a tournament over the coming months.

Having verbals with the on course marshalls & T.V crew during his round isn't going to help in his quest to win golf tournaments, you would think.

Monty can hit drivers & irons to where he wants blindfolded, if he finds a bit of magic with the putter, he can still win some big golf tournaments.

Garcia, Westwood & Monty are all great ball strikers and drivers of the golf ball. If their putting was as good as the rest of their game, they would all be major winners.

Now to their fellow Ryder Cup star, Darren Clarke.

Where is he with his game right now ?

Darren's BMW Asian Open win at Pudong, China in April was meant to be 'A New Beginning' according to his coach Ewen Murray.

The road back to where the gifted Darren Clarke's golfing talents are centre stage, is going to take a bit longer than was hoped.

Everyone in the Golfing World wants to see him back at his best.

ok

He is a good player but the camera man should have said yeah and it's us who put you on tv and print thus giving your sponsors the coverage they pay YOU to endorse, muppet

Golfbug: Well said: I imagine most of the European team would be thrilled to have an in-form Darren Clarke as a Captain's choice for the RCup squad. But even DC wouldn't want to play in this form.

Sorry to see Dougherty have another disappointment, and Casey is putting an awful lot of pressure on himself by not playing these tournaments, absent next week as well. Unless something changes dramatically both will miss out in September.

Meanwhile, lets hope someone goes out and wins the European Open, rather than see it lost. Victory would be a massive statement by McDowell for instance.

(And Harrington showing belated signs of life . . . )
