Whose year is it going to be?

comment on the article

Last season saw a number of young English players emerge and break into the starting line ups for their teams, and others move onwards towards the national set up.

So who's it going to be this year, who will be the stand out player in the Guinness Premiership. Will it be a youngster that just smashes through and makes everyone sit up and take notice, or will it be an old favourite who comes good again.

Of the youngsters around I can see Wasps scrum half Joe Simpson breaking through and making people sit up and take notice. If he gets a few games early on he may be difficult to drop and is definitely a future full England player.

Kat, I agree, Kyriacou got injured just at the point he seemed to have ousted Ongaro as first choice hooker.

I going to stick my neck out and predict another unfruitful season for David Strettle, he struggled to score last year and I can forsee the trouble continuing.

Agreed. More than a
touch of the Matt Dawsons
about him I thought.
Geech will nurture him and he should come good. Lucky Wasps to have him.

All very interesting, but we need to seriously beef up (physically and in rugby skills) our backs in order to compete with the SH. very few of these boys have it to compete with the pace, power and rugby brains at the international level. Not sure what the answer is, maybe extending our Academy to look for great athletes of a certain size, stature and ball skills and introduce them to rugby.

Houghton for sure, he has been there or there abouts for a while now. Also Ojo, gotta break into the England set up.
And please let this be the year that Sarries get some consistency with that man Borthwick up front, please?
