Crespo departs

Premier League Chelsea
comment on the article

Chelsea have released Argentinian striker Hernan Jorge Crespo.

Crespo, 32, failed to settle in England after moving from Internazionale for £17m and also had a rough relationship with former Blues manager Jose Mourinho.

However despite this he netted 20 goals in 49 games as well successful loan spells with Inter and AC Milan.

With a proven goal record the 65-time capped Argentinian International will look to entice other clubs with his services.

Your thoughts.

Chelsea have so much money backing up those amazing debts that it really doesnt matter ! Chelsea can sign who they want and then easily afford any mistakes. So what if they've lost £100M on the likes of Crespo, Mutu, Veron, Duff, Parker, Johnson ? All part of the way Chelsea have become a law to themselves (and No I'm not a supporter of any of Chelsea's rivals !) Aldershot were thrown out of the league for being less than £100,000 in debt !

thats interesting. our debts are internal, i.e owed to the owner, which is for tax reasons and is never going to be alled in. Effectively he owes himself.

Manchester ubited have external debts of over 500 million, but Chelsea are a law unto themselves??? I am not knocking united for this, its the way their owners have structured the deal, and its hardly affected their form, but this is another example of someone speaking without knowledge of the subject.

great player.had him for a year at Milan and he was an absolute delight after a slow start.off course our crazy board let him go and went after Ricardo Oliviera(?).class finisher and took his two goals in the CL final against Liverpool with aplomb.Wish you well Hernancito Crespo!

Crespo was a fantastic finisher, given more time he could've been as good as Van Nistlerooy in the PL, maybe better as he was much better in the air.

Everyone knows he left for personal reasons. Rough relationship with Mourinho? Not really mate.

I'll also think you'll find we did love him, and so did the management and board as he was actually offered a new contract at the end of 2005/06.

People tend to forget that footballers are human beings. Some players can come to a different country with their family and settle in OK. Some players take longer to adjust and some can't settle.
I think this was the case with Crespo. No doubting his footballing skills, but he wasn't for England's lifestyle.
I'm sure that's why he and Chelsea parted company.
I'm not a Chelsea fan, but I suspect they realised this and helped him.

What the hell are u talking about?! Utd fans love Forlan. Largely due to those goals against Liverpool he's a legend in my eyes.
-----------------------

I love forlan too as an adopted Uruguayan, and I have to say his miss for ManU against Juventus was possibly the best miss of all time ever.

He didn't react too badly to it either. What a legend. If that was dating that would be taking a model home - getting her into bed then falling asleep before doing the business.

great stuff.

Consistently superb striker his whole career, getting on in years a bit but still the quality to find the net. I was always a massive fan when he pulled on our shirt, I'll always remember that 92nd minute peach against Wigan. Cheers Crespo, good luck to you mate. Oh, but tell Jose to keep his hands off Frank, cheers.

This just about sums up the value of a contract in football........not worth the paper it's written on. Chelsea paid a lot of money for him and that overpaid overvalued clown Veron and then they both decide they don't want to be here anymore. Instead of making them both play in the reserves Comrade Roman decides it's best to let them both have what they want and go to Italy and then pay half their wages on top so that they can make the move and be happy again, bless them. Who are the mugs??
