The Great Stadium Debate

comment on the article

With both of our great clubs struggling with plans for a new stadium and both ruling out a groundshare, I thought I'd suggest an alternative.

Why not build two stadiums in the same area. Stanley Park or even Walton Park are more than big enough.

Before you laugh of the suggestion, think of the positives.

Each club would be responsible for the building of their own ground and any costs incurred. However, with both stadiums on the same site, all other costs would be halved. Car parking, routes in and out of the stadium, facilities around the stadium etc. The council itself could even contribute as it would benefit the city as a whole.

It would make this great city even more unique by having two stadiums so close together.

I know its never going to happen but I wonder whether this idea has even entered the head of the powers that be at both clubs.

Thoughts?

I actually, don't think it is that terrible idea. Makes sense in many ways.

We could cut costs even more by building the Everton stadium underneath Liverpool's in the basement.

/Sorry it is Friday- I am required by law to end any agreement with a toffee with some rediculous retort.

Here's an idea - Everton spend £150 million. £50 mil on the stadium and £100 million on the PA system. Z cars will then drown out YNWA when they are both playing on the same day!

And just when do both teams ever play at home on the same day?

I suggested spending £100 million on a PA system and you could only find fault in the fact that they don't really play at home on the same day!!!!

Really? Not on the same day you say? Oh right well now I know! Maybe they won't really spend £100 million on a PA system either then. Nah, I don't reckon they will actually, what was I thnking!????

While we're on the subject, chickens are incapable of rational thought. So the suggestion that the chicken might have a reason for crossing the road is totally ilogical.

And as for a horse walking into a bar - don't get me started on that one.
